  • World of Goo Corporation – Tillykke! World of Goo Corporation er globalt førende inden for Goo og Goo-relaterede produkter, herunder bl.a. World of Goo Corporations helt egen læskedrik og World of Goo Corporations ansigtscreme. Saftigt!
  • Kæmpe online-konkurrence – Menneskespillere verden over konkurrerer på en levende scoretavle om at bygge de højeste tårne af splat i World of Goo Corporations mystiske sandkasse. World of Goo Corporation er kontraktligt forpligtet til at oplyse, at alle er vindere, og det ligger os kraftigt på sinde entusiastisk at rose alles færdigheder som tårnbyggere ligeligt. Tillykke, og held og lykke!

Given the number of people that recommend this game as a great, classic puzzler it seemed natural for me to pick up this title.

Frankly, I haven't been impressed at all. I don't find this game puzzling or fun, just boring and quite tedious. Linking together a bunch of goo balls is not at all satisfying.

The only thing I have found fun is the humor found behind the sign painter.

Gameplay

World of Goo is a 2D physics-based puzzler with gameplay that revolves around building structures out of "goo balls" in order to reach a pipe at the end of stage. While this is a relatively simple set up for a puzzle game, the way in which the developers build upon it and create puzzle is ingenious. There are constantly new elements being introduced, from goo balls that can be detached or float, to environmental obstacles that may interact differently with different types of goo.

Going along with this, the challenges vary greatly. While the end goal is always the same, the level design means that different levels require totally different strategies. One level may require you to build the tallest tower you can while another may require you to build a small mobile structure while avoiding saws or fire. Another may have you selectively sacrifice some of your goo. This combination of different elements and challenges means that the game never once gets stale or boring. Each level feels wholly unique and the steady progression of difficulty and complexity is finely tuned. I found myself playing World of Goo for much longer sessions than I set out to. One important aspect of this is "time bugs" which allow you to go back in time by just a single goo ball placement. This means that you don't have to restart a whole level every time your structure fails and keeps the game from ever getting frustrating.

Graphics

World of Goo is a real joy to look at. The game a sort of off-kilter cute but twisted look that is not unlike something in a Tim Burton film. It's a unique aesthetic that I personally enjoyed.

More importantly, the visuals inform the gameplay in important ways. All gooballs and obstacles look very distinct and little details give you clues about your environment, like leaves blowing around giving you an idea of the wind speed and its effect on your structure. The result is a game that is very easy to understand and interpret, allowing you to simply focus on the task at hand.

Sound Design

In a word: excellent. The game features a variety of different tracks with some pretty great orchestral scores. I found that this music really set the tone of each level and left me feeling surprisingly exhilarated for as methodical as the gameplay actually is.

The sound effects are also great, with many sounds that are simultaneously cute, funny, and gross.

Story

The story of World of Goo is very vague and centers around the world-dominating World of Goo Corporation which harvest gooballs to make a variety of products. While it's never clear exactly what is going on, the story goes through themes of oppression, environmentalism, vanity, rebellion, etc. in an effective way. It exists more to evoke a certain emotion than tell a compelling narrative and, when combined with the music and visuals, is very effective in that.

Overall

Every aspect of World of Goo works and, more importantly, they all work perfectly together. It's a near perfect example of an indie game and there is good reason for it to be considered a classic. If for some reason you haven't played World of Goo, I whole-heartedly recommend it.

A very unique & challenging puzzle game. this game is worth picking up when it is on sale. But I wouldn't recommend spending money on it full price as it does eventually get a bit repetitive. I was shocked & amazed how they were able to keep adding new goo blobs to interact with to help change the experience up & add new content on later lv.

Man, this brings me back to when I first got my Wii. I played it off that crappy Nintendo shop, played it for a couple hours, got frustrated and uninstalled it. Don't judge me though, I was only, like, seven yars old. Now I'm finally finished with this game. It was frustrating but it I don't regret it at all. 2DBoy is awesome, I love these devs and the world that they've created. So, if you haven't played this game, or Little Inferno, I highly recommend its graphics, music, story and lore, even if there isn't much, and the puzzles, of course!

This is obviously mostly personal preference considering how many people love this game but I just absolutely hate physics-based "puzzle" games on principle and World of Goo is a classic example of the genre. Just the fact they're called puzzle games irks me as, to me, puzzle games are precise things that require rigorous, systematic thinking to arrive at a concrete solution, not juggling a bunch of blobs that are constantly moving around and liable to bring your carefully crafted but inherently unstable structure crashing down at any moment. That's not puzzling, it's just frustrating.

This is a fantastic construction game. It has creative levels, catchy soundtracks, a quite intriguing story told by ''your friend, the sign writer'', good humor, and just overall a very good game to pick up, build a few towers/bridges with Goos and just chill out.

It does get tougher the more you progress, but the levels never felt cheap or unfair to me

Wobbly-tower construction is fun in concept and the goos are cute, but this game is thinly developed and missing a number of critical features that would make it recommendable. The lack of video and sound control is an obvious inconvenience, but the flaws in gameplay are more worrisome. It's far too easy to accidentally place or drop a goo and far too hard to grab goos of a specific color in more complex puzzles. Fixing these shortcomings with keyboard commands (eg. CTRL+MOUSE1 = "release goo without using it") would have been pretty easy, but sadly it never happened. Even adding a command to skip cutscenes and poems would be greatly beneficial.

World of Goo is an absolute classic by my measure. It shines very brightly, and is a must-play for any indie game enthusiast (I have many many hours in this game, just not on Steam).

Essentially, the goal is to build architecturally-sound structures to bridge gaps. Its like a wild version of Bridge Simulator. The building mechanics are really fun, but arguably the best part of this game is the artwork and definately the storyline. While the story is quite abstract, but absolutely emotionally engaging.

The only negative I can really mention is that the game can feel a bit dated, at this point. I loaded it up this year and all the charm is still there, but the graphics and controls have not aged all that well. Regardless, its a classic.

World of Goo is to this day one of the finest indie games one can find.
It is, in my opinion, one of _the_ best physics-based logic games currently available.

It looks great, plays great and is overall an amazing and unique experience due to many factors. It does have some flaws, but they are minor and almost insignificant.

A one-of-a-kind setting, quirky and strange humor, a challenge to both strategic and quick thinking. What else would you need?

Highly recommended.

The goal is simple, yet changes every time. The game lasts long enough so as to not outstay it's welcome and the art style of the game is great.

For extra challenge every level has an "OCD" challenge. The OCD could be to complete the level in X seconds or it could be to use a trick to get an extra few balls that might not be immediately obvious.

The physics work, which you might think strange to include in a review of a physics based game... but I've played Bad Rats so I know what broken physics are!

Years ago there was this cool demo called "Tower of Goo" which I played for hours! It was directly an advert for this game. So I felt familar with the physics engine and the mainly game concept. You have to drag drops of goo which generate connections between them and lets you build up complex structures. These structures are flexible and react on the physics around them. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=313216017
You have to think a lot not to break down your structures and reach mostly above the tap. When it's done the tap changes to a kind of vacuum cleaner and sucks the rest of the goo drops into. Most challenging is after you finished a level to do it in OCD (Obsessive Completion Distinction) mode. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=314343308

If this game isn't considered a classic yet, it will be... it's that good.

- Graphics are still not outdated, still looks very nice and clean
- Soundtrack is still awesome, feels like it was uniquely designed for this game, very moody too.
- Game is very balanced in difficulty
- Connecting online doesn't seem to work anymore to compare tower heights. Boo hoo...
- Story is interesting, gameplay is addictive.

What more could you possibly want from a 69MB old game?

One of the best bridge/tower building puzzle games of all time. Even those who don't understand physics or the construction process will get a handle on this because the ability to connect the balls together is so intuitive. The devs did a great job of simplifying a complex process. The game runs from very simple to absolutely difficult, and near the end you'll find yourself restarting levels many times in order to successfully finish them. There are some special achievement like building a bridge with only so many balls that add more complexities to the game that I really enjoyed. The graphics are gorgeous and I love the artstyle that is used. A must play for all puzzle genre lovers.
