Great potential that falls on it's face due to overly basic combat system.
The framework here is good. Good artwork, visually interesting levels, mounts, rpg elements, lots of enemies. You have all the elements to make a great beat/slash-em-up. But it falls flat on it's face within an hour or two because the combat is idiotically simple. You essentially only have one combo, XXXY, and you will simply mash this combo for the entire game. It never stops. The whole game is played by almost mindlessly repeating XXXY with the occaisional evade or potion drink. It's initial offering of moderate fun evaporates very very quickly under the heat of repetitive enemies, similar levels, and the awful, boring combat. Double Dragon II for NES is more fun, has more moves, and requires more strategy and it only used two buttons!! A modern beat/slash-em-up should have tons of different moves. There's no reason a character couldn't have dozens of moves, akin to a fighting game. Sorry I'm getting off topic. Bottom line, this game gets boring very very quickly. The combat has no substance.
