What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“BREACHLINE is in Early Access because the core game is playable, but there is still a lot I want to improve before calling it finished.
A multiplayer FPS is difficult to properly balance without real players. Early Access gives me a chance to see how people actually use the movement, weapons and maps instead of trying to balance everything around my own testing.
During Early Access I want to focus on improving the gunplay, movement, maps, networking, performance, progression and customization while also fixing problems that come up as more people play.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I'm currently aiming for roughly 6–12 months, but I don't want to rush the game out of Early Access just to meet a specific date.
The exact timing will depend on how development goes and what comes up during larger multiplayer testing. I want the full release to happen when the game feels stable, balanced and complete enough to deserve it.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to be a more complete and polished version of the same game rather than a completely different game.
I plan to expand the amount of maps, weapons and customization while continuing to improve movement, weapon balance, progression, matchmaking, networking and performance.
Competitive multiplayer and server infrastructure will also continue to be improved throughout Early Access.
Some systems may change depending on player feedback. I would rather change something that isn't working than keep it just because it was part of the original plan.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“BREACHLINE currently has its main first-person movement and combat systems along with playable multiplayer deathmatch.
Players can fight across the available maps using different weapons and customize parts of their loadout and appearance.
The main gameplay loop is already playable, but some parts of the game are still being worked on. Balance, UI, progression, networking, optimization and other systems may change considerably during Early Access.
Bugs and unfinished parts should also be expected while development continues.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I currently plan to keep the Early Access price lower than the final release price.
As the game gets more content and becomes more complete, the price may increase. Any planned price changes will be communicated beforehand.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player feedback is one of the main reasons I'm using Early Access.
I'll be looking at feedback about weapons, movement, maps, spawns, performance, bugs and anything that feels unfair or frustrating to play against.
Feedback and bug reports through the Steam Community and the game's other community channels will help decide what needs attention first.
I won't be able to use every suggestion, but I want players to have a real influence on how the game improves during Early Access.”

About This Game

BREACHLINE is a fast first-person shooter with low-poly PS1-style graphics, set in a town on an island floating in space. The game is built around moving fast and a gadget kit you put together yourself. I'm making it mostly on my own. It's in Early Access so I can build the rest of it with the people who play it.

You keep your speed, and every move chains into the next one.

  • Bunnyhop, slide and wall run
  • Climb and vault over ledges
  • Grapple rope and rocket jumps
  • Dash, and a knife dash to get into a fight or out of one
  • Boost strips, bounce pads and islands in the sky
  • Spawn on the rooftops and drop into the fight

There are 19 gadgets, and any of them fits in any slot. You can even take the same one three times.

  • Portal: throw both ends anywhere on the map, even into mid-air. You can walk, shoot and throw grenades through it
  • Shockwave: blows enemies away, or launches you into the air when you throw it at your feet
  • Glider: jump off a roof and fly over the streets
  • Recall: rewinds you three seconds, back to where you were and the way you were looking
  • Blink: teleport up to 14 m to where you aim and keep your speed
  • Also grapple line, zipline, launch pad, gravity well, EMP, echo pulse and more

Walls don't keep you safe for long. The Dematerializer makes part of a wall disappear for 30 seconds, and thermite burns straight through it. Explosives blow holes in walls, floors and roofs.

  • 54 guns, all unlocked from the start, each with its own attachments in the gunsmith
  • Knives and melee weapons, from a katana to a fire axe and a chainsaw
  • Finishes, charms and stickers drop after matches as Steam items you can trade or sell
  • Rare legendary finishes for the knives and the chainsaw

Right now there is one map and four modes: Deathmatch, Gun Game, Duel and Capture the Point. You can play online with friends through Steam or against bots, and there's a tutorial if you want to learn the moves first. The game is playable, but it isn't finished yet. Expect bugs, balance changes and things moving around between updates. I read all the feedback, so please tell me what's broken.
