What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game includes all eight depths and Endless, and we want player feedback to guide its balance, clarity and replayability. Early Access gives us room to refine dice combinations, events and the Sea Chart while improving the interface, performance and presentation.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Early Access to last approximately 6–12 months, depending on player feedback and the polish the game needs. This is an estimate, not a fixed completion date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add a new way to learn enchantments from the Enchantress and new enchantments, cleaner screens built on icons and numbers, a redesigned Night Market, more events with real choices and costs, new Legendary dice, an animated opening, a narrator who reads each event's options before you choose, more cabin atmosphere and sound, more presences, more story at the deeper depths, a new setting for Endless, a fairer Sea Chart, more achievements and Steam Cloud saves once they are tested. Events held back for new art return as they are redrawn, and the art moves to a single heavy-ink style. Balance, readability, animation and performance improve throughout. Scope and priorities may change as we learn from players.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version includes all eight depths, guardian battles, branching Sea Chart routes, narrated events, the Night Market and Endless play. It offers over 200 dice, over 100 Curios, 12 keepsakes and 8 cups, and over 100 in-game achievements (some of them secret), alongside the Daily Tide, the Lexicon, the Practice Table, the Journal and three Captain's Logs. The interface, art style and balance are still being refined, and some events are held back until their new art is ready.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently plan to keep the same base price during and after Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will use Steam discussions to collect bug reports, hear which builds and events players enjoy, and find confusing rules or interface problems. Updates and patch notes will explain the changes made as development continues.”

About This Game

The Drowned Table is a psychological horror dice roguelike where you cast physical 3D dice across a sinking cabin table to appease a demanding entity.

The Table Demands an Offering
You wake at a jade table inside an isolated cabin. The air is thick, the wood is damp, and the table wants a score. To survive your descent through eight distinct depths, you must cast physical 3D dice from your cup to meet target scores in high-stakes fights. If you fail, your run ends, and you wake up back at the top.
Bizarre Anatomy of a Die
Forget standard cubes. Expand your bag with over 200 distinct dice sculpted like knucklebones, bell jars, eyeballs, and lamprey coils. Nearly every die harbors its own cosmic power. Master deep tactical keywords to chain your scoring patterns together:
  • Soak: Drench adjacent dice to create conduits for raw power.
  • Chain: Watch your score hop dynamically from die to die, multiplying with every link.
  • Growth: Cultivate points that build permanently with every single cast.
  • Bite: Aggressively siphon points, growth, or literal faces from neighboring dice.
Left-to-Right Curio Engines
Collect over 100 Curios—relics that grant massive scoring bonuses when specific conditions are met. Because scoring evaluates in a strict left-to-right sequence, the exact order of your inventory determines whether you trigger a modest point boost or a catastrophic multiplier chain.

Feed the Hunger, Control the Madness
Your sanity is a resource measured from 0 to 10. Every fight, the table dictates a specific condition—the Table's Hunger. Fulfill its bizarre whims to lower your Madness, or ignore them and watch your meter spike.
  • The Sweet Spot: Your dice score maximum multipliers at exactly Madness 5.
  • The Descent: Push past 5, and your scoring degrades. At higher levels, you lose starting casts and discards. At Madness 10, the table swallows a die from your bag every fight.
  • The Curses: Ignoring the table's demand and winning anyway brings a devastating curse that lasts the rest of your run, like Debt (raising target scores), Breath (stealing discards), Salt (crippling your first cast), or Anchor (fewer dice in your first cast).
The Sea is Coming In
The environment responds to your progress. As you venture deeper toward The Abyss (Depth 8), the window light fades into darkness, the cabin deteriorates, and the ocean water visibly floods the room.
The deeper you go, the more the Presences scratch at the door. If you don't have a Ward to protect you, you must sacrifice valuable discards or let them enter. A Presence will plunge your cabin into darkness, jam a die inside your cup, turn one of your cast dice to a new face, or drag a prized die out of your bag until the depth is cleared.

Key Features

  • 20+ Guardians: Every depth ends with a boss encounter that fundamentally rewires the rules of the fight.
  • Plot Your Course: Navigate a branching Sea Chart filled with high-risk formidable fights, random narrative events, and the mysterious Night Market.
  • Endless Mode: Conquer Depth 8 to enter the endless oceanic void with your current build to see how long you can survive.
  • The Daily Tide: One short voyage a day, with the same chart and cup for every player that day: a level playing field.
  • Meta-Progression: Spend Brine Pearls between runs at the Reliquary to unlock gameplay-altering Charters, starting Curios, and cosmetic table felts.
  • 8 Starting Cups: Master distinct starting setups that alter your starting dice pool, available casts, and baseline difficulty.
  • 124 Achievements: Hunt down 124 challenges to prove your mastery, with 100 fully integrated into Steam.

Early Access Roadmap

Early Access from October 26, 2026.
The Early Access version features all 8 core depths, Endless Mode, and 100 Steam Achievements. The current Free Demo lets you brave the first 3 depths today. We are actively refining the experience during Early Access.
Planned for updates, with no dates promised. Plans may change as we learn from players:
  • A fairer Sea Chart, with a better mix of events along the way.
  • A new way to learn enchantments from the Enchantress, and new enchantments to learn.
  • Cleaner screens: icons and numbers in place of text labels, a redesigned Night Market, a Curio mat, steadier layouts, and illustrated loading screens.
  • More events with real choices and costs, including gambles.
  • Events held back for new art return as they are redrawn.
  • New Legendary dice.
  • An animated opening cinematic.
  • The narrator reads each event's options aloud before you choose, and more events get narration.
  • Balance changes, shorter and clearer dice text, and reworks of dice and Curios that overlap or are not worth taking.
  • More kinds of presence, and more ways for the cabin to go wrong.
  • More story at the deeper depths.
  • A new setting for Endless.
  • Steam Cloud saves, once they are tested, and more achievements.
  • More cabin atmosphere and sound: wall candles, a cabin backdrop, Wards that toll like bells, ambience that changes with each depth, new whispers, booms and gusts, and more recorded sound for the creatures in the deep.
  • Art in a single style. The opening stretch has been redrawn in a heavy-ink style; the later depths, event illustrations, the Sea Chart, the guardians, the Night Market keeper, the Curio icons, and the 3D cup, table and props are being brought to match.
Expect rough edges until then: mixed art styles, some placeholder sound, and balance that will move. Feedback and bug reports go through the Steam discussions.

Demo vs. Early Access

  • Playable Depths: Demo, depths 1 to 3 (up to the 3rd Guardian). Early Access, depths 1 to 8 (the full descent).
  • Endless Mode: Demo, locked. Early Access, available after The Abyss.
  • Steam Achievements: Demo, none. Early Access, 100 tracked achievements.
  • Platform: Windows PC. Android is planned post-launch.
