What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Last Civilization: Inherited Flame is about carrying the history of a village and its people into the next civilization and guiding that legacy toward Day 100. Resources, survival, defense, death, memory, and inheritance all affect one another, so feedback from long-running civilizations is especially valuable. During Early Access, we will use player experiences to improve balance, controls, clarity, and new content.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Early Access to last about 12 months. We plan to move to version 1.0 when long-term stability, progression to Day 100, inheritance choices, content volume, controls, and readability meet our release standard. The schedule may change based on development progress and player feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full version, we plan to further refine progression to Day 100 and add more buildings, research, calamities, Civilization Wisdom, Legacy Point upgrades, and events that record people and civilizations. We also plan continued improvements to long-term economy and mortality, defensive lines and movement, onboarding, UI, accessibility, performance, and supported languages. Our goal for version 1.0 is a complete progression and ending in which players can look back on the history they created.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build includes a day-and-night cycle, resource gathering, jobs, construction and repair, research, individual residents and personal histories, defense against Shadows, buildings across multiple eras, defensive rings, Civilization Wisdom, binding memories into records, collapse and inheritance, Legacy Point upgrades, progression to Day 100, 20 save slots, and Steam Cloud. The main gameplay loop is implemented. Long-term balance, pathfinding, information readability, presentation, and content variety are still being improved.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually increase the price as we add new content and features during Early Access. The price at full release may be higher than the Early Access launch price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will review feedback and bug reports from the Steam Community, including the days reached and the number of inheritances in long-running games. We are particularly interested in resource shortages, resident death and memory, defensive lines, resident movement, Civilization Wisdom, and difficulty through Day 100. We will share updates and known issues in patch notes and prioritize improvements that make each player's civilization history richer.”

About This Game

Protect the flame. Build a home. Pass on its stories.

Tend a small village by day and defend its people and flame by night. Residents’ lives become books, and journeys leave memories in journals. Build, defend, and shape a village whose stories connect one generation to the next.

Screens show the full game under development (Japanese UI). They do not establish that all shown features are included in the currently distributed demo.

Build homes and workplaces around the last flame. Turn today’s resources into daily life—and preparations for the night ahead.

Captured during isolated play in the development build.

Build by day. Defend by night.

Gather wood, stone, and food. Build homes, farms, workshops, and defenses. Residents' work, hunger, stamina, hauling, and building use affect one another. Prepare fences and gates and assign a night watch before the Shadows arrive. Damage and shortages carry into the next morning.

Your daytime preparations shape the coming night. Approaching Shadows, dwindling fuel and damaged defenses: deciding who goes where can make the next morning possible.

Revisit each resident’s life, one book at a time

The work that sustained the village. A first encounter. A night spent guarding the flame. In the full game under development, choose residents’ records from a bookshelf and look back on their lives. When a village falls, carry its records and memories into the next civilization.

Guide a small settlement into its next age

From wood to stone and brick, develop your village’s buildings and defenses. Work toward Day 100 and the legacy you will pass on.

Actual rendering of stone and brick defenses. This development-build display test uses staged construction states, not naturally reached progress.

Cave of Echoes: follow the light beyond the village

Explore while watching your light, food and health. Venture one step deeper, or return with your discoveries? Preparations in the village support a new adventure.

Actual development-build screen from a test save, with cave access and supplies staged for interaction testing.

Eastern Journey: returning travelers reveal the world

Returning travelers’ reports lift the fog on the world map. Develop surveyed routes into contact outposts and pass exploration records to the next village.

These are highlights of the full game under development. Additional full-game features such as the cave, journey, and world map are not a statement of what is included in the currently available demo.

From Early Access toward the full release

We plan to keep improving long-term balance, controls, readability, buildings, research, calamities, record events, and supported languages. Content and implementation order may change with testing and feedback.
