About This Game

The swords are fake. The hits don't count. The monster is a guy in a costume.

Manala is a game about live-action roleplay (LARP). You build a combat deck, fight monsters or other players and take their stuff. The whole game works solo, and you can join other players whenever you like.

The swords are fake. Your first sword is PVC pipe, a pool noodle and silver tape. The tape is coming off. Later you can get a latex sword. It hits just as hard.

The hits don't count. About to get hit? Take it on the head. Headshots are not allowed, so it doesn't count. Still losing? Forget to count your health points. You will feel it after the fight.

The monster is a guy in a costume. The orcs are people in masks. The new guy is making instant noodles. Someone wants to check your wristband.

What you do

  • Play solo or with others: The whole game works solo. You can multibox and run a full party of your own characters. Or play with up to four friends.

  • Your gear decides your cards: The things you carry decide which cards you can play. Left your shield at camp? No blocking. All cards are open from the start. Your gear is your strategy.

  • Five classes: Warrior, mage, healer, alchemist and smith.

  • Light vs. Darkness: Pick a side and take regions from the enemy. At the end of each season, the Frog of the North names the winner.

  • Full-loot PvP: Kill someone and take their stuff. It's a PVC sword, but it's still worth something.

  • A big world: Over 1,200 rooms in 20+ areas. Forests, marshes and forts from Finno-Ugric folklore. Do quests and craft your own gear.

Real LARPers

Every player character is a photo of a real Estonian LARPer. Their own costume, their own foam sword, their own plywood shield. Like fighting games in the early 90s.
