Manala: Terms of Service & End-User Licence Agreement

Last updated: 2026-07-26.

Manala ("the Game") is made and operated by OÜ Kilbirivi, a private limited company registered in Estonia (registry code 17538063) ("we", "us", "our"). The Game is distributed and sold through Steam; manala.eu hosts information about the Game and these policies. By creating a character or otherwise using the Game, you ("you", "your") agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Game.

The Game is bought through Steam. Valve's Steam Subscriber Agreement and Steam Refund Policy also apply to your purchase and payment; these Terms govern how you may use the Game itself. On purchase, payment, and refunds, Valve's terms control those subjects (see "Purchases and refunds").

1. Eligibility and accounts. You must be at least 13 years old to play. You sign in with your Steam account and are responsible for activity under your account. Accounts are for humans; automated play ("bots") is not allowed. One Steam account may hold more than one character; we may limit this in the future (see the Community Rules).

2. Licence to play. On purchase we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to play the Game for your own non-commercial entertainment, subject to these Terms. We reserve every right not expressly granted.

3. Virtual items and in-game currency. In-game currency ("teened"), cards, items, and progress are part of the Game's licensed content. They have no monetary value, are not your property, cannot be bought with real money, and cannot be exchanged, redeemed, or cashed out for real money or anything of real-world value. There are no in-game purchases or microtransactions. You may not sell, buy, or trade accounts, currency, or items for real money or through any third-party market. The in-game casino uses this no-cash-out virtual currency only; it is not gambling for money.

4. Acceptable use. Your use of the Game is subject to the Community Rules, which are part of these Terms. In short: do not break the law, do not harm or harass other players, keep it family-friendly, and do not abuse or attack the service.

5. Content you create. You keep ownership of the text and names you create (chat messages, character names). By creating them you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and transmit that content as needed to run the Game, including showing it to other players and, for certain events, posting your character name and faction to our public Discord. You are responsible for the content you create. We do not pre-screen content, but we may remove content and suspend or terminate access for breach of the Community Rules.

6. Our intellectual property. We (or our licensors) own the Game and everything in it: the code, art, sound, world, lore, names, and design. Licensed third-party assets are credited in-game ("Autorid") and in CREDITS.md. Playing the Game gives you no ownership of it. You may not copy, extract, reuse, or redistribute the Game's assets, code, or design except as the law allows or with our permission.

7. The Game can change, and may end. The Game is a live, evolving online service. We may add, change, suspend, or remove features, reset or rebalance game state, and we may suspend or permanently discontinue the Game in whole or in part, with reasonable notice where practical. Because virtual items and progress have no monetary value and are not your property (clause 3), we are not obliged to compensate you for changes to, or loss of, virtual items or progress, except where mandatory consumer law or Valve's refund policy provides otherwise.

8. No warranty. To the fullest extent the law allows, the Game is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, and we do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. This does not affect your mandatory rights as a consumer (see "Purchases and refunds").

9. Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by Estonian and EU law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, lost profits, or loss of data arising from your use of or inability to use the Game; and our total liability to you for all such claims is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid for the Game in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) EUR 100. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for gross negligence or intentional misconduct, or for your mandatory rights as a consumer.

10. Suspension and termination. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or the Community Rules; for conduct causing or threatening severe harm we may do so without notice. You may stop playing and delete your account at any time (see "Account and data deletion"). Clauses 3, 6, 8, 9, and 12 survive termination.

11. Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms. We will update the date above and, for significant changes, give notice in the Game or on manala.eu. Continuing to play after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law and disputes. These Terms are governed by Estonian law. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence; nothing here removes them. EU consumers may also use the Online Dispute Resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Disputes that cannot be resolved informally fall to the competent Estonian courts, subject to mandatory consumer jurisdiction rules.

Manala: Community Rules (Acceptable Use)

These rules are part of the Terms of Service. Last updated: 2026-07-26.

House rules: my house, my rules:

  1. Break the game in every way you can, but share what you find using the "Feedback" button.
  2. If you break something, do it in a way that does not harm others.
  3. Avoid bad language; this is a family-friendly game.
  4. Playing with multiple characters is allowed, but this may change in the future.
  5. Always consider whether it is better to win or to have fun: the choice is yours.

What is not allowed. To keep Manala safe and family-friendly, you may not use the Game to:

  • post or share content that is illegal, or that infringes someone else's rights (including copyright and trademarks);
  • harass, threaten, bully, or incite hatred or violence against anyone;
  • post sexual, gratuitously violent, or otherwise non-family-friendly content, or use an offensive, hateful, infringing, or impersonating character name;
  • share private information (yours or anyone else's), or impersonate another person;
  • cheat, use unauthorised bots or automation, or exploit bugs in a way that harms other players or the service (finding and reporting bugs is encouraged: see rule 1);
  • buy, sell, or trade accounts, currency, or items for real money, or through any third-party market;
  • attack, overload, probe, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Game or its infrastructure.

Where these rules apply. These rules apply inside the Game and in our official public Discord server, which we monitor and moderate. They do not extend to private messages (DMs) on Discord, or to contact between players on any other platform or channel: we do not monitor those and take no responsibility for them; they are governed by the relevant platform's own terms. If off-platform contact relates to in-Game conduct, you can still report the player to us.

Reporting and consequences. To report a player, a name, or a message, use the in-game Feedback (Tagasiside) tool or email shieldwall@manala.eu. We review reports and may, depending on severity: warn you, edit or remove content, mute, suspend, or permanently ban the account, and remove an offending name. For conduct that causes or threatens severe harm, or that is clearly illegal, we may act without prior notice and report it to the authorities. If you believe we acted in error, you may appeal by emailing shieldwall@manala.eu within 14 days.

Manala: Purchases and Refunds

Last updated: 2026-09-22.

How the Game is sold. Manala is a paid game sold through Steam for a one-off price: the price shown on the Game's Steam store page at the time of purchase, including VAT where applicable. Valve Corporation is the seller and merchant of record: payment, taxes/VAT, and refunds are handled by Valve under the Steam Subscriber Agreement and the Steam Refund Policy ( https://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds ). We do not sell the Game directly and do not process your payment or card details.

No in-game purchases. There are no microtransactions, paid loot boxes, or real-money in-game currency. In-game currency and items cannot be bought with real money and have no cash value (see the Terms). The one-off purchase is the only payment.

Refunds. Request a refund through Steam. Steam's published policy generally allows a refund for any reason within 14 days of purchase if you have played the Game for less than two hours; Valve's policy governs the details. Direct refund requests to Steam, not to us.

EU right of withdrawal. As an EU consumer buying digital content, you normally have a 14-day right of withdrawal. For an instantly-downloadable game this right ends once supply begins with your prior express consent and your acknowledgement that you thereby lose it: which is what you confirm when you buy on Steam. This does not remove your other mandatory consumer rights, including remedies if the Game is faulty or not as described.

Manala: Account and Data Deletion

The player-facing face of the GDPR erasure right. Last updated: 2026-07-26.

You can stop playing at any time. To delete your in-game account and character data, use the in-game Feedback (Tagasiside) tool and choose "Account issues", or email shieldwall@manala.eu. When you delete your account, your character and associated game data become inaccessible immediately, are permanently deleted from active systems within 7 days, and are removed from backups within 30 days. We cannot recover deleted data. We may keep limited records where the law requires.

Deleting your Manala account removes your data from the Game. It does not affect your Steam account, which belongs to Valve: manage that through Steam. Deleting your account does not by itself refund a purchase; for refunds see "Purchases and refunds".
