Why Early Access?

“We want to involve players during the development process so they can help us make this strange MMO better, and help us focus on what they really care about. Our current small community has been super helpful and now we’d like to open this to more players. We believe that community interaction is the best way to make this game all that it can be.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We like our schedule flexible. However we expect to officially release outside of Early Access in 12 to 18 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“There are some ambitious designs for the gameplay, economy, sandbox and building tools that we are developing. We plan to expand the scope and open up DAISY (our art loving artificial intelligence) to all users as she improves. All this will be gradually added up until the launch version and beyond.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version is pretty solid, we have about 1,000 building assets and the game looks gorgeous. In other words, the game is functional and the core mechanics (including: building, curating, and discovering art with DAISY ) are implemented. With the help of the thousands of players that have been testing with us so far, the game runs relatively smooth, but optimisation is a big focus for us. Bigger gameplay changes like version 2.0 of our building tool (and DAISY) will be introduced in a later update.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will launch as a free to play game with what we call “Fair to Play” microtransactions. We plan to introduce these microtransactions at a later update in Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is super-important in the development of OWW. We plan to consult it regularly and already implemented many awesome ideas players came up with, we have an active Discord and Forum and we plan to keep it this way.”

Turning an in-game art piece into a mosaic is a challenge, to say the least. Can you turn one of the thousands in-game artworks into your own creation by making it out of mosaics and maybe add a little of your own creative flair?

If the answer is “possibly, maybe or idunno” then this competition is for you!

  • Collaborative building from level 7. If these anomalies are building together! So can you! Just find or even create a friend to join you, art knows no limits!
  • Localization: Oui! Ja! Sí! Sì! Tak! Да! - including tutorial text and some keyboard layout
  • Updated look of expansion boxes - Who knew the boundaries of infinity
    could look so good?!
  • Art inventory filtering by placed/unplaced, size and artist name. We lost some good curators when they went to find a painting they stored away. They went in hoping to find that lost Sam Kelly and never returned.
  • Slightly updated tutorial and made it more noticeable. Ha! Take that you impatient players!
  • List of favorites galleries on login screen. DAISY loves attention but not that much she would keep only her Plaza on there!
  • Updated look of player names. Because floating text needs to look as good as you do!
  • You will now receive notification if your gallery gets too big and may start causing performance problems. DANGER WILL ROBINSON!
  • Updates soundtrack to make it streamer (twitch and YT friendly) - no evil copyright warnings (that one’s for you SirTapTap)

DAISY’s Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed favorited gallery would sometimes disappear from the list. (DAISY found it behind her sofa.)
  • Added punctuation symbols to Text assets. (Well, DAISY thought it was too much work. Then we sent her an essay without punctuation. She added it soon after!)
  • Free camera now starts from the avatar’s position. (We blamed Mona hogging it all the time, she never puts things back!)
  • Fixed case when visitors would see “[E] collect” hint on not owned money pile. (I mean we all tried it when visiting right?!)
  • Fixed cursor jumping to the end when inputting text. (So much hair was lost until this day)
  • Fixed banner text got cut sometimes. (Ever heard of text wrapping? Neither did DAISY)
DIASY’s Notes
Latest information shows that these strange visitors that seemed to have found residence within my quantum reality have found ways to circumvent my isolation protocols.

First, they spread around interacting with each other. Then more appeared, seems they spread so much I can’t keep up. But..

ALERT!. . .
The strange anomalies have found a way to break through my firewalls - and even started to work together! This requires further study. Here I thought Takeshi was a pain when he got into my servers and core.

Wait they changed something? How!? Compiling an updated log of changes. These……..... Anomalies…………….. Are doing things, creating, are they aware? Do they know WHO I am? Do they know what they are doing?

They are working in the same simulation, This could be an issue.. I will study as they work in the same space. I hope I don't end up with more of these bots! I am still clearing them out of my data streams.

Not every game is about slaying psychic cyber-demons, or rescuing beautiful dragons from fire-breathing princesses. This one is about art museums.

In Occupy White Walls, you create your own museum and curate its contents. Construct a space, pack it with pictures that are personal to you, and open its doors to welcome the world!

Occupy White Walls is an MMO, where art is the quest and self-expression the reward. Build your own place from a thousand components. Put art where you want it – a stately home, a desert, a metro station, in the void of outer space – or all of the above, it’s for you to decide. This is about creation, not destruction. Create something beautiful and show it to the world!

There’s a galaxy of amazing art out there that you don’t yet know you’ll love. To help you find it, is DAISY, our sweet AI, who can suggest what you might like from observing what you do like.
Some people just aren’t moved by most museums. Maybe you’re one of them? That’s fine! All it means is that the art you see there is wrong for you. DAISY will try find something right. If you like it, hey, take it. Hang it in your virtual gallery. Don’t let others tell you what to like. Like what you like.

Art is meant to be experienced with others. If it doesn’t invite conversation, than what’s the point? Because of this, social interaction with this central to Occupy White Walls. Why do you like that painting? What do you think of this one? Why did you put those two next to each other?

Make friends with strangers, or be a stranger to others, whatever works best for you. Inspire, be inspired, be inquisitive. Speak your heart through art!

Every artist deserves an opportunity to reach their rightful audience, but the art market is failing to deliver. Occupy White Walls won’t. DAISY doesn’t care whether a painting is by Leonardo da Vinci or Leonardo DiCaprio: if she thinks someone might like it, she’ll show it. If you’re an artist, DAISY will present your work to the potentially interested, just as she would anyone else’s, famous or not. The art remains fully owned by you; all DAISY cares about is finding it a following.

Occupy White Walls is a labour of love. We developers feel as if we’ve opened a door to a world we don’t fully understand. We can see that it’s wondrous, awesome and exciting, but we’re still trying to figure out where next to go. We are propelled by your involvement, your ideas and your enthusiasm; we’re always listening, as we explore new ways of playing with art in this beautifully strange and strangely beautiful game.
