June 5

Welcome to the first patch for Void Bastards, released today June 6! We've been listening to feedback and problems and attempting to address the most urgent issues and we'll be continuing to support the game from here on out.

New Features
  • Added option to change border colour to black or grey instead of white.
  • Added option to adjust gamma.
  • Quitting the game while on board a ship no longer kills your character. If you exit the game, return to the main menu or the game crashes while on board a ship you will be able to resume from just prior to boarding that ship.
  • Various attempted fixes to issue where weapon sprites become giant and camera gets locked in place.
  • Fixed amounts in the various health upgrade descriptions.
  • Fixed wording in health upgrade description (Russian).
  • Fixed a portrait that had two sets of hair.
  • Moved turret projectile spawn so that it is no longer possible to stand right next to a turret and be safe.
  • Fixed oxygen terminal giving too much oxygen.
  • Vsync default setting is applied correctly (before vsync is changed in options).
  • Fixed progress part location arrow disappearing when a target ship is in the exact center of the nebula map.
  • Fixed occasional issue where progress and locater arrows point to the same ship but one moves to another location when you arrive at that ship.
  • Fixed ammo count overflowing when you have four digits worth of ammo.
  • Adjusted collision mesh on round table to help player getting stuck on it.
  • Removed “good source of staples” from the description for the CNT Tax Boat.
  • Fixed recycling the next part as well when recycling a part that has no current or future use.
  • Don’t show the BACS prompt to build a glow bulb if you have already built the part locater.
  • Don’t allow bringing up the full screen map over the introductory screen at the start of the tutorial.
  • Removed some couches that created a small gap that the player could get stuck in in the spin and win module.
  • Stop radiation audio feedback when you are incurring radiation from an irradiated enemy and that enemy dies.
  • Spin terminal uses counter updated to use numbers instead of green lights.
  • Fixed a typo in final comic.
Balance Changes
  • Doubled authorisation cost for oxygen terminals.
  • Bushwhackers never break on pick up.

Looking for an extra challenge? We’ve got you covered.

If you thought Ironman difficulty was tough, wait until you unlock the Foon. Here’s how you do it:

1. Finish Void Bastards on any difficulty to unlock Ironman difficulty
2. Finish Void Bastards on Hard Bastard + Ironman
3. You’ve unlocked the Foon game modifier
4. Start a new game
5. Enjoy your newfound cutlery

Foon mode allows you to ONLY use the Foon. No other weapons or devices can be used.

The upside is that the Foon allows you to backstab for one hit kills! Otherwise, it just does 10 damage. You might have a hard time with Secbots and Peepers.

Good luck, client.

About This Game

Forget everything you know about first-person shooters: Void Bastards asks you to take charge, not just point your gun and fire. Your task is to lead the rag-tag Void Bastards out of the Sargasso Nebula. You make the decisions: where to go, what to do and who to fight. And then you must carry out that strategy in the face of strange and terrible enemies.

On board derelict spaceships you’ll plan your mission, taking note of the ship layout, what hazards and enemies you might encounter and what terminals and other ship systems you can use to your advantage..

Move carefully through the dangerous ships, searching for supplies and manipulating control systems. React to what you find - will you detour to the generator to bring the power back online or will you fight your way into the security module to disable the ship’s defenses? Choose carefully when to fight, when to run and when just to be a bastard.

Use your hard won supplies to improvise tools and weapons, from the distracting robo-kitty to the horribly unstable clusterflak.

Navigate your tiny escape pod through the vast nebula. Flee from void whales and pirates, and politely avoid the hungry hermits. All the while you must keep scavenging for the food, fuel, and other resources that keep you alive.

Void Bastards features a 12-15 hour campaign that you can complete with an endless supply of prisoners, each with their own unique traits. When one dies, another steps forward to carry on the fight. Don’t worry though, as any crafting progress you’ve made is retained from one to another.
