What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I am running parallel project to secure funding for development of ΔV: Rings of Saturn. With Early Access I can devote more time and resources, delivering the final game faster and with more features.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Full release is scheduled for end of 2019, but we might release earlier or later - depending on community feedback. Game is and will be fully playable all the time.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Full game will have more upgrades (at least 80), at least 3 fully playable, distinct ship models to buy and 20 hours of storyline to follow. Full version will also have complete localization to all supported languages.

We are running a rapid development cycle, with new releases on average every second day.

After the full release we intend to keep supporting the game with content patches for at least a year, adding 5 upgrades every week, 5 hours of gameplay every month and new ship every two months.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Game is still in development, but it's playable, polished and I do my best to keep it bug-free. There are no placeholders, everything that is in game looks just like it will look in finished game.

We are still working on adding new content and new mechanics of the game.

Current features:

  • Complete spaceflight and ringmining simulation.
  • 2 hours of storyline.
  • Single playable ship.
  • Enceladus Prime station: Upgrade shop with 24 upgrades, Mineral Market and Ship Repairs.
  • English and Polish language support.

The demo is always in-sync with the game, so you can check it out to see how are we doing for free.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Game price will remain the same. You will get more features and more content in full version, but in Early Access you have a unique opportunity to influence the game development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are running a dedicated #community-ideas channel on our discord server, where every player can suggest an idea and vote on others. You get to suggest upgrades, ships, science-fiction lore - and many more! We are adding player-submitted ideas to the game every week.”

0.102.4 - Relaxed Constrains

This is a storytelling enchantment release. A storyteller module of ΔV is the part that keeps the story going - the pirate attacks, the anomalies in the game, bounty hunters patrolling. It was a bit harsh on a new players, and it's tuned now to be more relaxed.

Changes:
  • Increased compassion of storyteller module.
  • Fixed a but that caused mouse to be blocked when pausing the game while fast-forwarding cutscene.
  • Fixed a bug that hid tuning options of mass driver.
  • Fixed a bug that caused "launch from Enceladus" sequence to be automatically skipped every time. You can now skip by clicking, or watch it.
  • Fixed menu fade at Enceladus Prime when leaving station.

0.101.0 - Singularity Asimptote

Some players argued that ΔV is brutal and hard on the start. This update aims to help with that. It adds an insurance to cover your initial losses when you learn the ropes of the game, and it completely overhauls how the autopilot works.

None of the underlying physics and simulation changed - it's just that some of the on-board system are smarter now.

Changes:
  • Complete autopilot overhaul for keyboard+mouse control scheme. Target-locking an object will now cause the autopilot to aim for it automatically, and your movement will be oriented to the object. You can move closer and away from it, and side movement will move you around it. As previously, you will automatically match velocity. It makes it much easier to dig.
  • Changed the way camera pans around - it will now show more in the way you are pointing towards (as opposed to showing more in the direction you move), and you can pan around a bit by pointing your mouse at a target. It will also try to maintain anything you target-lock in the shot.
  • Added an insurance to cover the repair costs for initial damage of your ship. You need to start a new game to take advantage of it.
  • OMS will now work correctly when tutorial is playing.
  • Stability improvements. Fixed couple of spots that might cause crashes.

About This Game

The unexpected discovery of valuable minerals within the rings of Saturn has sparked a thriving space excavation industry. You control an asteroid excavation ship hoping to make it rich out on the rings, but soon you find out that all is not as it appears. Experience a hard sci-fi story backed up with real physics and science.

Players say

"The way the lights on the ship light up the asteroids, the way even informational screens change when power goes out, the music that simultaneously carries emotions of loneliness, adventure, and mystery, all beautiful."

"[...]while this definitely is not my style of game, it is EXTREMELY well done for it's genre. The aesthetic and art style are simply awe inspiring."

"[...]love how the gameplay with keyboard/mouse AND gamepad is equally satisfying, while it 'plays' somewhat differently. [...] Having to constantly apply controls, to adjust speed, bearing, velocity is really fun, engaging and satisfying."

"Nice game, very captivating. The silence and mystery of space feels spot-on."

"I’m in love, I’ve been waiting for a game like this my whole life."

"[...]looks really really good! I love this kind of sims on where all is about precise control"
