Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We’d like to complete the full game before the end of 2019 and we’re pushing to get it completed within the next ~6 months, but we’re going to take all the time we need in Early Access to learn from our community and make use of those lessons before putting out the full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our Early Access version provides a solid, polished foundation to build on. With the full release, we plan to add more content and features including weapons, vehicles, animals, cosmetics. We also plan to increase the density of unique points of interest on the island, and these new map features will help players discover the twisted history of Super Animals. We’ll also be evolving the game’s progression systems and adding new quality of life features.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

  • All the core mechanics are implemented and a lot of balancing work has been done, but we’ll continue to take more feedback and refine everything throughout Early Access.
  • There is a full island to explore that supports 64 player online multiplayer. If player populations are low at certain times of day, we have bots that can fill up the remaining slots in games as necessary.
  • Solos, Duos and Squads are implemented and support both team text chat and all text chat.
  • The island has multiple biomes including evergreen forest, deciduous forest, swamp, desert, and a snowy north. It also has some of its first story-related points of interest including the S.A.W. Research Labs, with more coming soon.
  • 12 weapons (including your starting melee weapon) are implemented in the game with 5 different levels of rarity.
  • 16 core Super Animals are available to unlock with more than 50 unique breeds (ex. Super Shiba Inu, Super Pug, Super Boston Terrier, Super Lab, and Super Husky are all unlockable breeds after you unlock the core Super Dog).
  • We have over 100 cosmetics already in the game to unlock, and will be adding more throughout Early Access. Cosmetics include outfits, hats, glasses, beards, melee weapon skins, gun skins, umbrellas, tombstones, death explosions, and emotes/dances, which can be combined to create your own distinct Super Animal.
  • Our core progression system is implemented with account leveling, as well as Animal DNA, Super Serum, and cosmetic drops at the end of games. Animal DNA is collected and combined with Super Serum to create new Super Animals and breeds.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will not go up after Early Access. Instead, we will be adding new optional cosmetic items (that don’t have any gameplay effects) throughout Early Access and experimenting with player friendly IAP approaches to prepare us for full launch. These systems and items will fund the game’s continued development after Early Access and potentially allow us to offer lower upfront prices in the future to open the game up to more and more players. We take the design of these systems very seriously, so we’ll be looking for player feedback all the way through Early Access on them to make sure they’re a positive (pawsitive?) and fun addition to the game!”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We’ve already been very active in our dialogue with our alpha/beta community through development and it’s one of the big reasons the game is what it is today! We plan to continue that throughout Early Access so players can be open with us about what’s working and what isn’t, new features or balancing tweaks they’d like to see and new animals, weapons or other content ideas that they think would be fun! More Super Updates arriving before our next content drop!


A whole bunch of tweaks and updates just arrived as a ninja server update:
We also have a new content update coming Wednesday (including new animal breeds, emotes and items to unlock)!
We're super proud where we're at as of these first 6 days of Early Access, and appreciate all of your support so much. We're now laser focused on growing the player population in Super Animal World, so we'll have an announcement in a couple days on exactly how we're approaching that and fueling growth for week two! If you want to contribute and provide your feedback directly, feel free to hop into our Discord where we're discussing and putting together the plans for phase 2 of growth now!
  • Accounts level 5 or less now have 25% increased chance per minute (in-game) for a cosmetic.
  • All-chat enabled during eagle flight.
  • The mole now drops 3 items and has a chance to drop a blue sniper and 3-packs of grenades. Level 3 armor drop chance in mole has also been increased slightly.
  • Tall grass and crates give slightly more ammo and slightly less health juice.
  • Keybindings have arrived in settings in the main menu!
  • Rebinding a key now replaces the previous rebinding (without needing to unbind the current one).
  • You can now enable/disable team chat and all chat separately in the Paws menu.
  • And lastly an update that streamers will appreciate (and all you other dual monitor people): you now have the option in the Paws menu to lock your mouse to the game window so it doesn't move over to your other monitors while you're playing.
Bot upgrades oh my:
  • Bots are getting fancy: they'll now wear random combos of cosmetics (can't wait to see the weird outfit combos they dream up lol). We keep adding funny bot names inspired by you all too so keep those coming ;).
  • Reduced bots sight range (sometimes they were locking on too far).
  • Bots will fight each other more often now.
  • Bots will reload if necessary after a kill.
  • Bots have gotten over their fear of ammo. Good job bots!
  • Bots should no longer shoot at walls with players behind them.
  • Bots pursue distance/knowledge reduced a bit.
  • Bots are slightly more inaccurate now with slower weapons like magnum and sniper (but we shall forever fear Magnum Bot).
Fixes:
  • Final circles of life won't hang as far in the ocean anymore.
  • Fix for destructible crates not always having proper randomness.
  • Hopefully fixed players getting stuck during a lag spike.
  • Changed how players-alive is counted, which should fix the 2 players winning solo bug.
  • Fix for people being stuck at the end of the eagle flight at the bottom of the map.

About This Game

Super Animal Royale is an intense, strategic, top-down 2D twist on the battle royale genre. Up to 64 adorably murderous animals fight tooth and claw (and machine gun) across diverse, exotic biomes, each vying for top dog (or top cat, or top sloth...you get the idea).
