PAX East 2018 Debrief

(this is a crosspost originally authored by Grant from the Due Process blog)

So now that we're not all dying from the PAX Plague, I think we can all confirm that PAX East was nothing short of incredible. The flight from Seattle was long, the weather in Boston was cold and rainy, but the energy from the booth made it all worth it.

Day Zero

The Showfloor

While this wasn't our first PAX, this was our big reveal. We've got a publisher now! With Annapurna Interactive backing us, we were able to double the amount of computers we normally set up, as well as bring the whole team to run the booth. Traffic from Annapurna's booth naturally found its way to ours, which made for an incredibly popular game.

The End

Thanks to everyone who came by our booth! It wouldn't have been possible without you guys. We met a ton of people who were passionate about our game. From followers of our old block-y build, to new players who had never heard about us before, watching the excitement on each team is what made PAX East worth it in the end. Seriously, thank you, we wouldn't have made it this far without you.

About This Game

Due Process is a tactical FPS about planning and teamwork that rewards communication with teammates, allows players to draw a "playbook" directly onto the map during the planning phases, and presents a novel situation each play session thanks to a bounty of procedurally generated, hand-curated maps.

Play As A Bonded Unit

In Due Process, the only road to victory is teamwork. Each match begins with a planning session, providing teams an opportunity to gear up, discuss strategy over voice-chat and formalize tactics by drawing directly onto the map - like a playbook. Once the round begins, combat is quick and energetic - with one team on offense and the rival team defending a structure with multiple entry points.

Fresh Scenarios Each Match

Due Process introduces an evolution of the FPS scenario. Maps are procedurally generated, then expertly curated by the development team for maximum fun - resulting in a novel situation within each match, whether the outcome is victory or defeat. Due Process balances the playing field by making it more about outsmarting your opponent than memorizing a map, eliminating the inherent unfairness of “map knowledge.” With visuals inspired by 90s arcade light gun games like Time Crisis, Due Process uniquely marries neon-retro aesthetics and modern gameplay innovations.
