Coming Soon To Early Access

The developers of this game intend to release as a work in progress, developing with the feedback of players.

Note: Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development. Learn more

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“A World Reforged is built mod-first from the ground up — almost every system in the game, from machines to UI to multiplayer, is implemented as a self-contained mod on top of a small core. My goal is for the game to be deeply moddable, and Early Access is how I get there: by developing the game alongside the players and modders who will ultimately push it further than I could alone.

The game already has a working core loop, but it's an ambitious project, and the modding tools deserve to be shaped by the people actually using them. Early Access lets me get the game into players' hands now, gather real feedback on how the factory systems, progression, and multiplayer feel, and refine the modding APIs against real community mods rather than guesswork. Getting moddability right — clean, documented, and stable — is something I want to do with the community, not in isolation.

I'm committed to seeing this through to a finished 1.0 release. I plan to update the game regularly, communicate openly about what I'm working on, and treat the Early Access period as a genuine collaboration with the people who play and mod it.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I expect the game to be in Early Access for roughly 18 months, with a target of leaving Early Access around late 2027.

Game development timelines can shift, so I'll treat this as an estimate rather than a promise. If community feedback shows that certain systems need more time to get right, I'd rather extend Early Access than rush the full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version contains the core gameplay loop — mining, smelting, fabrication, power, building, and early automation — but several major systems are still to come before the game is complete.

For the full version, I plan to:
- Deepen the factory progression — additional production tiers and machines (chemical processing, advanced fabrication, power storage and alternative power sources).
- Expand automation and logistics — a full conveyor and drone-based logistics network so factories can run with minimal manual hauling.
- Build out the planetary-reconstruction endgame — the terraforming pipeline (restoring oxygen, water, and soil), biogenic synthesis (growing flora and fauna from bio-samples), and the final act of reigniting the planetary core to bring the world back to life.
- Add research and tech progression tying these tiers together.
- Polish throughout — UI, balancing, performance, multiplayer stability, audio, tutorialisation, and overall presentation.

I plan to refine all of the above based on player feedback during Early Access. Scope may evolve as I learn what players enjoy most.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is a playable multiplayer factory game with a complete early-game loop. You can play solo or in co-op (the game is built multiplayer-first).

Currently implemented:
- First/Third-person exploration and building on a destructible, fragmented planet.
- Resource extraction — mining resource nodes for raw ore.
- Processing chain — smelting ore into ingots, pressing and fabricating intermediate components, and a workbench for manual crafting.
- Power systems — power generation and grids that machines depend on to run.
- Automation foundations — early logistics, drones, and warehousing/storage.
- The planetary-response system — stabilising fragment seams via the SeamForge, which unlocks higher technology tiers as the world recovers.
- Upgrades, an in-game tablet interface, voice chat, hunger/suit-power survival systems, and a building/placement system.
- Multiplayer newtorking
- Initial Biogenics researching

I'd estimate the game is roughly halfway to its full planned scope. Core game loop and modding enginge is already in place, refining it and extending it still needs attention,”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will stay the same throughout Early Access. I plan to raise the price once when the game leaves Early Access and reaches its full 1.0 release.

Players who buy during Early Access will get the game at its lowest price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is central to how I plan to develop A World Reforged. As a solo developer, direct player feedback is the single most valuable tool I have for deciding what to build, fix, and balance next.

I plan to involve players by:
- Reading and responding to feedback on the Steam Community Hub, where I'll post updates and discuss the game's direction.
- Running a Discord server for more direct conversation — bug reports, feature suggestions, balancing discussion, and early looks at what I'm working on.
- Reading Early Access reviews closely and using them to guide priorities.
- Working directly with modders — gathering feedback on the modding APIs and tools

Player feedback will directly influence the order I tackle features, how systems are balanced, and which quality-of-life improvements get prioritised. I'll communicate openly about what I'm working on and why, so players can see how their input shapes the game.”
