What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“One aspect of Early Access which is very important to us is ensuring our game continues to be enjoyable, balanced, and fun as we progress with development. Beasts of Bermuda would be very difficult to develop in a vacuum without feedback from a community of players actively playing our game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We have not decided on an official release date for Beasts of Bermuda at this time.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Beasts of Bermuda has but a small fraction of its final creature roster available for play at this current time. A major point of progress in Beasts of Bermuda's development will be to continue adding more creatures to the game for play. This will come alongside addition of new and unique game mechanics to support these creatures and make sure they're fun, unique, and balanced.

Additionally, we will continue filling out more aspects of the various modes of play that come with Beasts of Bermuda, including Life Cycle, Free Roam, and Combat game modes.

We also will continue expanding on map-based survival elements such as expanding our weather and disaster-based elements, creation of more maps, and addition of other future game mechanics that further enrich the experiences of the various modes of play present in Beasts of Bermuda.

Lastly, after launch, we will continue adding more ways for admins and server owners to control and run their servers successfully and easily. This includes admin commands, server rules and settings, and other quality-of-life things that make running a server easier and more enjoyable.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently, Beasts of Bermuda offers a completely functional, multiplayer game experience where the player can play as one of many prehistoric creatures on large, multiplayer servers. The game has several animals available for play in a wide variety of niches, including aquatics, a flyer, many terrestrial animals, a couple semi-aquatic creatures, covering herbivores, carnivores, and piscivores.

The game comes with three modes of play, including:
  • Life Cycle - A game mode in which the player spawns as a juvenile of their species of choice and must grow up over time. Talent Points, Nesting and inheritance are also part of this mode of play. Growth is faster, resource management is harder.
  • Free Roam - A game mode in which the player spawns as a juvenile of their species of choice and must grow up over time. Talent Points, Nesting and inheritance are also part of this mode of play. Growth is slower, resource management is easier.
  • Combat - In this game mode, the player spawns as a fully grown individual. Small maps and close spawns ensure lots of combat action in this mode of play.

Beasts of Bermuda also has many game mechanics complete and in place. This includes:
  • Management of survival-based resources, including hunger, thirst, stress, and point scoring
  • Growth and Talent systems
  • Combat resources and mechanics including health, stamina, ability power, damage dealing, and death
  • Weather and map mechanics, including tides, fish, exhaustible freshwater, edible foliage, storms, lightning, and tornadoes
  • Many unique creature abilities including climbing, pouncing and latching, flight, swimming, grabbing, alarm calls, knockback, trample, scent and tracking, and other niche abilities
  • Skin customization for all creatures, including several skins for each animal
  • Quality of Life settings such as support for play with a controller, key remapping, and the ability to change graphics settings
  • Server management tools for those interested in hosting Beasts of Bermuda servers, including settable species limits per server, many console commands, and an observer mode

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We are not sure whether or not the price of Beasts of Bermuda will remain fixed, or will change.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We regularly play our game with our community in Discord (https://discord.gg/4568vwu). This provides a means for the community to communicate and play with the developers of Beasts of Bermuda directly. Here, we are open to feedback and ideas regarding Beasts of Bermuda's development. We will also be regularly checking up on our forums.”

About This Game

Beasts of Bermuda is a multiplayer survival game in which the player is a dinosaur or other prehistoric creature. A player can take the role of flyers, swimmers, herbivores, carnivores, and semi-aquatic creatures that fulfill different niches in the ecosystem. No matter what the player chooses to be, the objective of the game is to survive and grow up on the islands of Bermuda by using their particular creature's abilities. Predation from other players as well as intense environmental events are the antagonistic forces in the game the player must survive against.

There are currently three game modes in Beasts of Bermuda.

In Free Roam game mode the player selects a creature of choice and spawns into the world as a juvenile of that species. They must survive and gradually grow larger over time. As growth accumulates, they also earn talents, which can be spent to enhance different aspects of your creature's capabilities. In this mode growth is slower but resource management is easier.

In Life Cycle game mode the player selects a creature and spawns into the world as a juvenile of that species. You must survive and grow larger in a fast paced growth setting. As growth accumulates, you will earn talents to enhance different aspects of your creature's capabilities. After 1.32 growth you can choose to enter a stage called Gauntlet, where the difficulty of the game increases with growth in the form of food, water, and ailment management. In this mode growth is faster but resource management is harder. Compete on a monthly leaderboard to earn the top growth ranking for your species!

In Combat game mode players are pitted against one another with mechanics that are designed to reward conflict. Servers can use Deathmatch Maps which are smaller with close together spawn locations. The player spawns in as an adult creature of their choice and can accrue more talent points by killing other players and stealing their points. The game mode is endless and uses points and kill/death ratios to show who reigns supreme on the server.
