Why Early Access?

“This is a very early preview with many design and visual placeholders, but the main ideas are already implemented and available for testing.
We’re going to launch our Kickstarter campaign in October, and we’d like to gather player feedback to understand what exactly our community wants.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Zeal will be in early access at least through pre-alpha preview build, which is approximately 1-2 months.
Then closed alpha for backers, then open beta, then full release in 2019.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have more classes, more customization options, more gamemodes and significantly better visual quality.
The details about the planned content will be published on our Kickstarter page and our website.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Game is playable with a high amount of visual, audial and mechanical placeholders that we could not yet implement replacements due to being an indie company with an extremely low budget. Our goal is to deliver a fun and competitive PvP game with the help of Steam, Kickstarter and good old Zeal community. Currently Zeal has 7 classes (up to 2 more will be added during Early Access) and is focused on Arena mode (1v1, 2v2, 3v3). More modes are planned to be unlocked during the Early Access but the details are not settled yet.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“This preview is free to play during Early Access, and then the full game will be released separately as a one-time purchase.
Kickstarter backers will get the game cheaper and also will get unique cosmetic rewards that won’t be obtainable once the campaign ends.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are planning to deliver updates very often, interacting with the community through Steam, create community events and polls to determine the future of Zeal.

— Fixed a bug which caused players to sometimes spawn as the character they played before.

— Dictate Fate now should correctly work if the target is mounted.

— Fixed a bug which caused Poison Spikes to sometimes reach 2 stacks without Swift Strike.
— Bouncing Leap speed boost duration reduced from 2 to 1.5 seconds and it’s not longer affected by Intensity.
— Tech Advancement now increases Fire damage by 50% (down from 70%) and makes Burning Tar slow by 30% (down from 50%).
— Evasion cooldown increased from 14 to 15 seconds, cooldown reduction on successful evades increased form 4 to 5 seconds, damage reduction percent reduced from 45% to 30%, duration reduced from 4 to 3 seconds.

— Sucker Punch now makes Bash or Passivating Strike increase the damage enemy takes by 10% regardless of your position. Using these abilities from behind doubles the bonus.

— Fixed a bug which caused Wrathful Hand to penetrate through walls and pillars.
— Avenging Flames duration reduced from 8 to 6 seconds.
— Judge-Guardian now deals attackers 10% of the damage you take (after damage reduction modifiers) as Holy damage instead of reflecting unmodified damage.
— Enigmatic Protection now reduces the damage you take by 10% (down from 20%).
— Healing Light healing reduced from 800 to 700.
— Piercing Light self healing reduced from 500 to 400.
— Benevolence now increases Healing Light healing by 40% (up from 20%) (halved in 1v1 arena).
— Protect the Innocent now increases healing by 30% (up from 20%) (halved in 1v1 arena).

— Malice damage bonus increased from 20% to 30%.
— Shadow Empowerment damage and healing bonuses increased from 30% to 40%.

About This Game

Zeal is a new action RPG developed by Lycanic Studios, an indie team of game developers, planned to be released in 2019 after a crowdfunding campaign in October 2018 and currently is in pre-alpha state.

Zeal focuses on competitive PvP that revolves around customizable builds and teamplay. Pick your class, create your own build and prepare to slay your enemies while defending your allies!

Fast Paced & Competitive

In Zeal, you'll experience the thrills of fast-paced third-person PvP where your smallest decision counts as a huge difference towards achieving victory when executing strategies quickly.

Precision is key

Zeal's targeting system is different than similar games before it. Denying target locking for most abilities, successfully landing your arrows, spells, swings or even healing abilities will determine if you'll be the survivor of the bloodbath.

Customizable Builds & Unique Classes

Zeal does not come with pre-defined characters with limited variety. In fact, it is all about building your own character through base classes that offer unique identity possibilities waiting for you to explore. Choose your abilities, decide which stats are important for you and utilize passive masteries of your taste to reach the ultimate customization that differs you from any other player.

7 Classes are available for Pre-Alpha and 15 are planned for release

No Grind, No Pay 2 Win

Last but not least, Zeal offers a gameplay that involves absolutely 0 minutes of grinding required. You can jump into the action without having to run errands in a village and you can be equally strong with everyone in terms of raw power without having to slay a dragon. Though you might slay it in the future, for cosmetic purposes!

It is also safe to say, since this project is by the players-- for the players, Zeal will never include a pay to win advantage of any form.
