Welcome to Vesper City

Underground Evolution is a 1920s crime MMORPG: a slow-burn underworld career in a living city, played in quick sessions or long nights. It's always raining somewhere in Vesper City, and every deal goes through somebody's back room. You arrive with a cheap suit and empty pockets. Where you end up is your own business.

Everyone plays in the same city. The rival you knock out, the gang on your turf and the name in the paper all belong to real players.

A city that remembers

Nine painted districts, from the neon of The Strip to the washing lines of Little Sicily and the cranes of the Docklands. Drag across the painted city map, walk its streets and step inside painted rooms: the gym, the bank, the speakeasy, City Hall, the police station, your gang's HQ. Day, dusk and night follow the game clock, and at night every room is lit by its own lamps. Every morning The Evening Racket prints what the players did: gangs founded, wars declared and won, the week's top crooks and fighters. Rather stay out of the paper? You can.

Build a career, not just a character

• Train at the gym, work shifts and take courses at the college.
  
• Pull jobs off the back-alley board, from pickpocketing to the Syndicate's big jobs.
  
• Every job builds heat, and each district remembers your face. Heat, jail and hospital make every choice count.
  
• Fight rivals and other players in a back-room boxing ring.
  
• There's no level cap. Levels go on forever.

Own the city

Buy homes and businesses district by district, let a home to a tenant or rent one yourself, trade on the Bazaar and bank your takings. Cash in your pocket can be taken.

Gangs and wars

Found a family, fill its treasury and climb its ranks. Declare war on any gang in the city, take the fight to their turf, and take the spoils when they fall.

One shared world

There's one Vesper City for everyone: the same city, the same players and the same account, wherever you play.

Fair and free

Free to play, and everything in the game can be earned by playing. Optional Gold buys time, convenience and a touch of style: energy and nerve refills, an early walk out of jail, a faster trip, a coloured name. Every crate shows everything it can hold, and the exact odds, before you buy or open it. Painted faces are earned by playing, and nothing you buy unlocks an earned face.
