About This Game

Your new PC has finally arrived.

You sign up on a freelance site as a data-recovery technician and take your first job. That profile is how Mariam finds you.

She says she is being held somewhere. The only way to find her is through the files she sends you.

Recover them. Read what the metadata says. Follow it.

A horror game that lives on your screen

FILE 13 is played entirely on a fake Egyptian desktop: messages, phone calls, a browser, a terminal and a set of forensic tools. There are no corridors to run down. The horror is in what you find, who is really talking to you, and what the machine starts doing once you dig too deep.

  • An investigation that fights back. Recover deleted files, pull metadata, enhance photos and catch the lies in people's stories. The longer the case goes on, the more the operating system comes apart.

  • People who text back. Mariam, her sister Nour, your friend Pat and others message you, call you and lie to you.

  • Your choices matter. What you say, who you trust and what you send decide which of the endings you reach.

  • Play in English or Egyptian Arabic. The full game in either language, with a right-to-left interface and voiced characters.

  • Horror on your terms. Gore can be set to Off, Blurred, Minimal or Full, and is minimal by default. There are also options for reduced flashing, captions, text size and a Streamer Safe preset.

Content notice

Psychological horror with themes of abduction, murder and death. Optional graphic imagery, off or minimal by default. Contains flashing images and sudden loud sounds, both of which can be reduced in Settings.

Helping her is the mistake.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

FILE 13 was written and coded by a solo developer. Generative AI was used only for the characters: most character portraits and character voices were created with AI tools and then edited. The character Youssef is not AI: his voice and photos are of a real person. Everything ships as fixed content: nothing is generated while you play.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

FILE 13 is a psychological horror game dealing with the abduction and disappearance of a young woman, murder, death, deception and stalking. Violence is mostly implied through messages, photos and recovered files rather than shown. There are a small number of disturbing images, including blood, which can be set to Off, Blurred, Minimal (default) or Full in Settings; Full gore requires confirming a content warning. Strong language is optional and off by default. The game contains flashing images and sudden loud sounds, both of which can be reduced in Settings. There is no sexual content.
