An incremental colony game in an allotment garden. Hundreds of gnomlings pick berries, merge fruit in a magic cauldron and fling it through the air. When the run slows down, make jam: jars buy lasting upgrades in the Gnome Village under the compost heap.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The core is done: garden, cauldron, jam making and the Gnome Village already carry a full campaign of several hours. We want to balance and grow the next parts together with players instead of guessing behind closed doors.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About three to six months, depending on what players ask for along the way.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Planned: telling your Gnomlings which bushes to prefer, compost and builder Gnomlings, Garden Tricks to pick during a run, more gardens with their own bushes, a finale at the regional garden show and things to do after it. Plans can change with feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Fully playable: endless runs in the allotment garden, a 6 × 6 Magic Cauldron with 15 fruit varieties in four qualities, six buildings, giants, throwing, the Compost Catapult, "Buy all", the Gnome Village with 41 nodes and 17 achievements. Buying every one-off node takes about two and a half to four hours; the repeatable nodes and the fruit collection keep a campaign going for six hours and more. English and German, full controller support, Steam Cloud.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Everyone who buys during Early Access gets all updates at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the Steam forums and the update notes. We read every piece of feedback on balance and controls and answer it in the next updates.”

About This Game

Pick. Merge. Jam.

In Jar of Gnomes, a crowd of tiny Gnomlings harvests an allotment garden for you. Berry bushes sprout on their own. You pick the first berries by hand, and soon the Gnomlings carry the fruit to a bubbling Magic Cauldron – and in there, two matching fruits merge into the next better one. A redcurrant turns splendid, then golden, then enchanted, two enchanted redcurrants make a blueberry, and far up the chain waits the giant pumpkin.

You decide where the colony works: buy Gnomlings and upgrades in the Allotment Row and feed the best bushes compost. A run never ends on its own. When it slows down, you make jam: the harvest turns into jam jars, and Mr Krause finally mows the lawn.

Every jar counts

Jars are yours to keep. Spend them in the Gnome Village under the compost heap, a web of 41 nodes in five workshops, and rearrange them for free between runs. Some nodes only open up once you have earned an achievement. Most of them show up front roughly how many more jars per run they will bring. And every jar you have ever earned adds +10% harvest, so the next garden always grows a little faster.
