About This Game

Someone is lying. It might be you.

Up or Out is a corporate social deduction party game for 4 to 8 players who have each other's backs — and none of them trust the others. You walk in like it's just another day at the office. The moment you catch that strange look across the conference table, the game starts over for you. Because the person smiling at you five minutes ago is now writing your name on a ballot.

Everyone is chasing the same promotion. Not chasing it isn't an option — you either climb up or get thrown out.

Every Round Is a Trap

  • Round 1 — Target Image: A Selector marks one of eight images on the vision board as the "target." Everyone else has to find it. The Selector can bluff, kill the screen to hide their choice, or flip a vent switch and throw the room into chaos.

  • Round 2 — Trust or Betray: You have 25 seconds. Will your partner reach out — or flip the button at the last second? Smile while their hands shake. Top four earners get bonus points. But winning usually means someone has to go down.

  • Round 3 — Fake Selector: One is real, one is fake. You look in the mirror and the reflection isn't you. Your phone rings; if you answer, your voice could give you away. You have one round to find the truth.

  • Round 4 — Record Audit: Three colored vinyls sit on your desk. Which one you have to play isn't written anywhere — the answer is in another room. Pick up the phone, read your colors to the person on the other end, and listen for yours. Then tell the next caller theirs. One shot. The right record earns a point. The wrong one costs you one — and the whole floor hears who played the lie.

  • Round 5 — Restructuring: The meeting starts. The ballot is in your hand. Everyone votes for one. The Manager has an "expunge" card in their pocket. If it hits the table, your vote lands on someone else.

  • Round 6 — Coffee Break: Two cups. One is poisoned. Your partner knows which. But who was that shadow who slipped behind the counter and switched them?

  • Round 7 — Downsizing: Four symbols, four seconds. Pick wrong and the game doesn't end — two hidden rounds you never knew about open up.

  • Hidden Rounds 8 & 9: Tiebreaker restructuring vote and executive key hunt. We'll talk about them if you make it that far.

Whispers, Lies, Phone Lines

  • 4-8 player online party experience

  • Proximity-based voice chat — step closer, whisper; shut up when someone walks in

  • In-game phone system: dial a number, chase a voice in the dark, keep it off the record

  • Steam Lobby room codes to rally your friends in seconds

  • Manager sabotage cards: swap screens, flip votes, poison coffee

  • First-person 3D office — every room hides a clue, every hallway hides a lie

  • Dark comedy, corporate dystopia tone

  • Alliances change every round. Every meeting breeds a new conspiracy.

Trying to get out? Everyone's trying to get out.

You came in with friends. One of them turned. Or maybe it was you. At the end of the game only one person gets the promotion — everyone else is shown the door. How many of the people smiling at you will you still be calling by name, and how many will put your name first on the next ballot? Will you climb the ladder, or get fired first?

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Up or Out is a solo-developed project aimed at delivering a AAA-scale social deduction experience at a small build size and high performance. The nine round mechanics, sabotage design, character roles, scoring system, corporate dystopia tone, in-game writing and full game code are all designed and written by hand by the developer.

AI is used only in three supporting areas of the pipeline: content optimization (mesh and texture reduction), code analysis, and marketing assets. Final selection, editing and integration of every output remain with the developer.

No generative AI runs while the game is being played. No visual, sound, animation or dialogue is produced by AI for the player; all content is pre-authored, tested and shipped as fixed data. No player data is sent to any external service.
