You wake up on a beach after a storm. No ship, no crew — and the island is going under. In 25 minutes the sea will take it all.

BEFORE WE SINK is a survival adventure about escaping drowning islands. Every island is a race against rising water: find what you need, solve what stands in your way, and get off before the tide reaches the peak.

• Rising water: the sea climbs in real time; low ground floods first, caves fill with seawater, the summit is the last refuge.
  
• Repair and set sail: patch a wrecked boat plank by plank, then work your way up to a galleon with sails and cannons.
  
• The open sea is not safe: whales, storms, waterspouts and the kraken wait between the islands.
  
• Cursed islands: pirates, skeletons, wolves and stranger creatures guard treasure, maps and old secrets.
  
• Dive for sunken loot with diving gear and bring it up before your breath runs out.
  
• Play as the Fan, whose jersey wears your country's flag and colors.
  
• Co-op for up to 5 players over Steam, with in-game voice chat — or face the sea alone.

Most sound effects, ambient sounds and music (including the music used in the trailers), as well as character voice lines, were generated with AI audio tools. Translations of the in-game text were produced with AI assistance. The main menu's fallback background image was created with the assistance of an AI image generation tool. All store and library artwork, screenshots, trailers, the game icon, 3D models, animations, gameplay and level design are not AI-generated. We have rights to use all generated content and it does not infringe third-party IP.

Before We Sink features combat with swords and firearms against pirates, skeletons, monsters and wild animals, with realistic red blood effects; defeated enemies remain on the ground for a short time. Players can also fight each other (PvP). Characters can drink beer, wine and rum and become visibly drunk. Optional below-deck mini-games (wheel of fortune, liar's dice, arm wrestling) let players bet in-game items; no real money is involved. Some locations are dark and eerie, and enemies occasionally use mild language such as "damn".
