What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Cast & Found is a trip, and the first legs of it are finished: Lake Geneva, Marseille, Oslo and Hydra can be played start to finish today. We want people fishing them while the later stops, the rest of the fish and more of the town life are built, so the game grows in the direction players actually enjoy rather than the one we guessed at.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Roughly six to nine months. If the game needs longer, it gets longer; we would rather move the date than ship a thin stop on the trip.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“More places on the trip and more pages in the journal, more fish and more legends, more furniture, outfits and things for the camera to find, more townsfolk with more to say, Steam achievements and cloud saves, and polish on everything that is already there.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The whole loop is playable: four places (Lake Geneva, Marseille, Oslofjord and Hydra) with tickets between them, around a dozen fish per place plus each place's legend, markets, boats, your cabin and decorating, photo mode, day and night, weather, and Pugsley. Keyboard and mouse. Expect rough edges, balance changes, and the odd save reset between big updates.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We do not plan to raise the price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the Steam discussions and the JoyMandate Discord. Tell us which fish you want, which place should come next, and what felt off. Every update's notes will say what changed because of what you told us.”

About This Game

Grandma's journal, her rod, and one devilish pug.

Your grandmother gave you her fishing journal: one page for every place she loved, and the last pages blank. Pack the rod she gave you, take your dog, and go fill them in.

Fishing that stays gentle

  • Nothing fails. A snapped line leaves the fish swimming where it was, and you cast again.

  • Around a dozen fish in every place, each with a note from Grandma, plus the one legendary she never landed.

  • Dawn, day, dusk and night, rain and shine. Different fish bite at different hours. Rest on the dock and let the time pass.

A trip, not a map screen

Start on Lake Geneva, earn a train ticket to Marseille, another to Oslo, then a cruise south to the Greek island of Hydra. Each stop is a small town with its own market, people, boats and fish. Take a rowboat, a sailboat or a Viking ship out to the glittering ripples where the better fish wait.

Between casts

  • Sell your catch at the stall and spend it on rods, bait, food and tickets.

  • Talk to the townsfolk. Make friends and help out, and be helped in return!

  • Buy furniture at the market and design your house.

  • Take photos.

  • Pet Pugsley.
