About This Game

In Seed and Deed, the landlord wants a share of every harvest. Somewhere in what you signed there is a tithe on your crops, a fee for every swing of your tools and a surprise inspection. Upgrade until one key harvests a whole plot, hire helpers who work on their own and grow out of season in greenhouses. Meet the contract and you move to a new farm with new rules. Pay off the deed and the land is yours; how the story ends depends on whether you read the contract.

Hidden clauses kick in while you play: the landlord's tithe, a surprise inspection, a fee for every swing of your tools. Some are even in your favor. Each one lands in your notebook, so you can read it after it bites.

  • Cut weeds, plow, sow, water and harvest, from wheat and hay to carrots, corn, pumpkins, watermelons and golden strawberries, with garlic and cabbage for the winter.
  • Sell your harvest or deliver it to the contract. Lock what you never want to sell by mistake.
  • Buy land strip by strip and clear its trees and rocks. Some rocks hide quartz, amber or a gold nugget.
  • Repair abandoned greenhouses or build your own, then step inside and grow out of season.

  • Hire helpers and watch them work: planters, harvesters, waterers, a weeder, a woodcutter and a plow.
  • A skill tree with 48 upgrades for your tools, your helpers and your crops.
  • Bigger tool areas, faster helpers and whole-plot shortcuts: harvest, water, sow or plow a plot at once.

  • Four seasons with rain, storms and snow. Most crops have their season, and frost punishes the rest.
  • Crows, worms, moles, locusts and fungus come for your fields. Your dog keeps the crows away.
  • Good days too: a passing buyer, a gift of seeds, a golden crop and a fair at the end of every season.

  • Meet the season's deliveries and the office moves you to a new farm: dry land, marsh, stony ground or woodland, each with its own rules.
  • Choose your next annex, or sign it blind for more Fine Print points and a nastier surprise.
  • Take some of your upgrades with you when you move. Every permit comes with a clause of its own.
  • Spend Fine Print points on permanent perks, a lawyer who reads ahead or a pen to strike out the worst clauses.

The farm is for sale, in installments. Along the way you will meet Don Anselmo, the old landlord who never reads anything; the Office, which only speaks in clauses; and Tobías, who fishes in your pond and knows more than he says. Free play comes after the ending.

  • Mouse and keyboard or controller.
  • Accessibility options: larger text, a readable font, high contrast, colorblind palettes, reduced motion, sound captions, a slower game speed and remappable keys.
  • Nine languages: English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, German, French, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

Pongzi Scheme: Pong, but you run a Ponzi scheme. A finite incremental with five endings, out March 9, 2027.
