Your father ran a small card shop—until he lost ¥30,000,000 in a single night at the underground den "Naraku" and disappeared. All he left you was his debt and the cold grin of the loan shark who came to collect it. The only clues to where he went are hidden deep inside the den. So you pick up the cards and take a seat at the table.

PLAY CARDS. BET CHIPS. READ YOUR RIVAL.

- Place cards on a board of 5 lanes and 3 rows, and build combos with neighboring cards.

- Winning lanes earns rewards and advantages. Choosing which lanes to give up is half the game.

- Raise, call or fold: shake your opponent with chips and bluffs, not just card power.

- Win two of three rounds, or knock your rival out.

LOSE, AND LOSE A PART OF YOURSELF

Every round you lose spins the body roulette and decides where you get hurt. Injuries stay with you and change how you play.

- Eye: you can't see the edges of your opponent's board.

- Ear: you can't tell how many cards they hold, or whether they passed or raised.

- Mouth: you can raise less—or not at all.

- Hand: you can't place cards in the outer lanes.

- Belly: you discard a card every round.

Three severe injuries and you're knocked out. Only the back-alley doctor can patch you up—for a price.

BETWEEN MATCHES, WORK THE STREETS

- Buy singles and packs at the black-market card shop, and rebuild your deck.

- Pick up "tools" at the pawn shop to bring into the den: loaded dice, a hand mirror, bandages…

- Buy intel on your rivals from the informant, and take on jobs and card puzzles at the tavern.

- Pay back the debt every week.

- Sunday tournaments, wanted posters of strange gamblers, and the unique cards only they carry.
