What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Potato Factory already has a playable loop that takes you from hands-on potato processing to an automated chip factory. We want to develop the experience with players while there is still room to shape it. Early Access feedback will help us improve production-line building, physical item handling, progression and the way the space-farm story unfolds.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Early Access to last approximately 6 months from the Early Access release. This estimate may change depending on development progress and player feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to develop the space-farm story further and expand the production and upgrade choices that support the journey from manual work to automation. We also plan to refine robot helpers, factory and farming interactions, progression, onboarding and performance using player feedback. The scope and priorities may change during development; these are our current intentions, not guarantees of specific additions.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version is a playable single-player, first-person factory game. You can peel, wash, slice, fry and bag potatoes, sell your output and buy equipment and upgrades. You can build conveyor lines and connect automated processing machines, use robot helpers to collect goods, and visit the farm to collect potatoes. Physical items can be picked up, carried and piled up, and progress can be saved and resumed. The space setting and cargo launches are already present, but the story and progression are still being developed. This is an unfinished version: balancing, guidance, performance and bugs still need work.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to keep the same base price throughout Early Access and when the full version launches. We do not plan to raise the price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Players can share bug reports, suggestions and descriptions of their factory setups in the Steam Community discussions for Potato Factory. We plan to use this feedback to identify confusing interactions, production bottlenecks and progression issues, and to help prioritize fixes and improvements to factory building, farming and robot behavior. We will share development updates and patch notes through Steam announcements. We cannot implement every suggestion, but feedback will help guide our development priorities.”

About This Game

Start with a single potato. How far can you take your business?

Potato Factory is a first-person factory management game. Make your first bag of chips by hand, then invest your earnings in machines and production lines. Turn a hectic little workshop into an automated factory that keeps the bags coming. As for where all those chips are going… you'll soon discover that this job is a little more unusual than you expected.

From peeling potatoes to running production lines

Peel, wash, slice, fry, and bag: take care of every step yourself. Get the frying just right, scoop out those golden chips, pack them up, and send your first shipment out the door.

Then let the machines take over. Unlock automated equipment, lay conveyor belts, plan turns and splits, and gradually connect your entire production line. Adjust the layout, upgrade your machines, and enjoy the satisfaction of watching potatoes roll in and bags of chips roll out.

But potatoes roll away, and goods pile up. When an output gets clogged, even the boss has to get their hands dirty.

There's more to factory life than work

Bring in a few robots to help move goods and liven up the factory. They'll collect scattered items, wander around when they're free, do a somersault, or come over to say hello. Have them follow you on your rounds, or pick one up and put work aside for a moment.

Fancy a change of pace? Head to the farm to collect potatoes, then bring your ingredients back to the workshop. After a busy day, grab a bite and get some sleep in the break room. Production matters, but so does the person running it.

Wait. Is this a space farm?

You thought you were just here to collect potatoes and fry chips.

But as the story unfolds, a space farm, cargo rockets, and the stranger side of this business will gradually come into view. When the rocket ignites and lifts off, you may find yourself asking:

Who exactly are we making these chips for?
