What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I’m developing Derelict Division on my own, and I’d like players involved while there’s still room to change how the jobs and tools work.

That feedback will help me work out what needs fixing and which parts are worth building on.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“My current estimate is 6–8 months. That may change as I work through fixes and player feedback. I’ll post updates if the estimate changes.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I’d like to add more ships to salvage, more contracts, and a wider choice of equipment and hazards. Progression and customization are also areas I want to expand, including gear you find on jobs and somewhere to keep interesting finds.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build has salvage contracts, derelict ships to explore and five classes with their own suits and ships. You can use cutting tools, charges and magnetic clamps to recover salvage, then spend your earnings on equipment and upgrades.

Power, pressure, and gravity affect the ship interiors. The story is not fully complete yet.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I don’t currently plan to change the price during Early Access or when the full version launches.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Steam discussions will be the main place to send bug reports and suggestions. I plan to post patch notes and development updates there too.”

About This Game

Derelict Division, LLC is a space-salvage game for 1–4 players. You work out of the Scrappy, a frigate that serves as your crew’s home between contracts. Pick a job and take your own ship out to a derelict freighter to recover materials and equipment.

Explore the freighter, decide what to recover, and plan your route back to your ship.

You can enter through a hangar or cut an opening in the hull. Inside, use your cutter on walls and panels, then attach magnetic clamps to move the salvage. Your ship’s beam can cut hull panels from outside and cut through the ship’s interior.

Power, pressure, and gravity all affect how you work. Unpowered rooms are dark and your suit thrusters let you move through areas without gravity. Opening a pressurized room to space can pull loose cargo and crew through the breach. Your suit has a limited air supply so leave enough for the trip back.

There’s no combat. The hazards come from the ship and the work you’re doing to it.

Play alone or split the job with up to three friends. One person can open a route while another handles the haul back to the ship.

The five classes are Cutter, Engineer, Explorer, Pilot and Support. Each has its own suit, ship, and upgrade tree. Back aboard the Scrappy, credits earned pay for equipment and supplies while class experience goes toward upgrades.

A story campaign is planned and is still in development.

Keelstone lets shipbuilders grow frames and graft recovered sections into new vessels. It has kept your crew busy, but some of those ships are starting to fail.

The planned campaign follows the crew as routine salvage jobs turn up damaged structures and questionable inspection records. Petra handles the contracts, and Hob knows the materials. They’re trying to understand what’s going wrong while the buyers keep asking for more.
