About This Game

Bird Feeder is a cozy idle bird-watching game: a thin strip of garden that lives just above your taskbar.

Pour a cup of tea, get on with your day, and real birds of the Pacific Northwest will drop by to visit.

Glance down now and then: a chickadee pecking at the tray, a jay after the peanuts, and maybe a new page waiting in your Bird Book.

44 birds of the Pacific Northwest to get to know, and 2 rare strays. Each newcomer leaves a sealed page in your Bird Book.

Hear a bird sing or call in the garden, and its page plays it back with a sonogram.

Set out a little food and see who comes: sunflower seed for chickadees, peanuts for jays, suet for woodpeckers, nectar for hummingbirds and mealworms for robins.

Every visit earns a few stars. The crow, for the record, is not fussy.

Spend your stars on new foods, more feeders, a berry shrub, a water dish, a birdhouse and native trees. New food and new homes bring new birds.

Set every tree and feeder wherever it looks right, add a gnome, a lantern or a pot of cosmos, and give your garden its own name.

Pet a bird and the view leans in close, with little hearts. Some birds love it, and the shy ones need a softer touch.

The more days a bird comes back, the more its page grows, until it wears the gold band of a familiar visitor.

Now and then one leaves a feather, a seed husk or a pine cone, a keepsake for your Cabinet.

Birds splash in the pond, a Rufous chases an Anna's from the nectar, and in summer a robin fledgling begs to be fed.

Each season lasts a real week and brings its own visitors. When rain comes, the small birds tuck in under the pine.

At night the small birds sleep in the pine, the Barred Owl calls from its snag, and a moth or two circles your lantern.

Step away for a while, and a little postcard tells you what you missed, but only when there is news.

Field cards are small seasonal goals, like "See a Northern Flicker on the lawn on 3 days." They never expire.

No timers, no chores and no punishment for being away. No internet needed, and in our tests it uses about 2% of one CPU core.

Bird Feeder was made with AI. The game's code, the pixel art (every bird, prop and background) and the in-game text (species notes, tips and menus) were written or drawn by AI agents (Claude Code).

The music was generated with ElevenLabs (Eleven Music).

Every sound effect and bird call is synthesized in code written by AI agents. The bird calls are interpretations, not field recordings of real birds: they were tuned against measurements of real recordings, and no recording ships in the game. All of this content was made before release and ships inside the game. Nothing is generated while you play, and the game has no live AI features.

More features are under development:

You will be able to see bird spots in new locations such as Japan, Bali, and more...

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Bird Feeder was made with generative AI.
the in-game text and every sprite: the pixel art is written as code, pixel by pixel, on one palette, not painted by a person or made with an image model. The bird calls, ambience and the two music tracks were generated with ElevenLabs; birds without a generated call, and the small garden sounds, were synthesized in code. The bird calls are AI interpretations, not field recordings.
