A 1v1 card battle over three locations, fought with cards inhabited by yokai. When a round ends, the side with more attack power at a location takes it. Your character attacks directly, too, and you build a deck of exactly 30 cards.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“JANYANG is a 1v1 competitive card game. Card balance and rules are best refined through real matches between real players. During Early Access, we plan to tune the competitive environment based on your matches and feedback, and to keep adding cards and characters together with the community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan for Early Access to last roughly 6 to 12 months. This may change depending on the state of the game and development.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add more characters and cards, new locations and solo chapters, run ranked seasons, and improve deckbuilding and interface convenience features.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“You can play 1v1 matches, six characters, deckbuilding with exactly 30 cards, solo chapters, boss runs and a weekly boss, AI practice with selectable speed, and card collecting and crafting. Visual effects, some text and balance are still being polished.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“JANYANG is free to play. We plan to keep it free to play both during Early Access and after full release. The game includes optional in-game purchases.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will gather feedback through Steam Community discussions and announcements, as well as the in-game feedback and report tools. We will share every change in patch notes and explain how your feedback shaped the competitive environment and upcoming content.”

About This Game

JANYANG — the echo that lingers after the city goes quiet.

Fight for Three Locations

Every match is fought across three locations, and each one has its own effect and its own quest. When a round ends, the side with more attack power at a location takes it. Deciding where to commit your cards, and which location to give up, is a play in itself.

Your Character, Your Deck

The six characters each have their own abilities and awakening. Your character fights too, attacking directly. Build a deck of exactly 30 cards, and when a match ends, swap one card and head back in.

Play Solo

Take on chapters, boss runs, and a weekly boss, or practice against the AI at a slow, normal, or fast pace. Collect and craft cards, and copy a deck to share it with a deck code.

Features

  • 1v1 battles: 30-second turns, three locations, four slots per location
  • Six characters, each with its own abilities and an awakening
  • Decks of exactly 30 cards, with search, filters, and an opening-hand swap
  • Solo play: chapters, boss runs, and a weekly boss
  • Collect and craft cards
  • Copy and share decks with deck codes
  • Practice against the AI at a speed you choose
  • Includes randomized in-game items (rates are shown in the game)

Randomized Items

This game includes randomized items: Lamp Oil can be spent on Bond Pulls and Card Packs. Rates for each rarity and the guarantee rules are shown in the game, under [Rates & guarantees].

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Pre-generated: Generative AI tools were used during development to create much of this game's artwork, including card illustrations, character and costume artwork, card frames and user-interface parts, and short looping animations on some cards. Store page artwork (key art and capsules) was also created with generative AI tools. Some in-game text, including card effect text, tutorial text, and the English and Japanese translations, was drafted with AI assistance. AI coding assistants were also used in development.
Live-generated: None. The game does not generate content with AI while it is running and does not connect to any AI service. Computer-controlled opponents use conventional game-tree search, not generative AI.
