What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I want to develop Tooth & Tide alongside players who enjoy beachcombing, collecting, and relaxed island life. As a solo developer, Early Access gives me an opportunity to learn how players experience the islands, refine progression and the economy, and improve usability, performance, and character presentation. Community feedback will help me prioritize improvements as I expand the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I have not set a firm timeframe yet. My plans include expanding the shark collection and improving characters, animations, and existing gameplay systems. As a solo developer, the time I need will depend on testing, player feedback, and the scope of those improvements. I intend to share a clearer estimate as development progresses. I intend to have it full release ready by end of Q2 2027.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to expand beyond the current collection of 50 shark species, improve character models and animations, and further refine the islands, museum, shop, and collection systems.

My long-term ambition is to include around 500 shark species. This is a development goal rather than a guaranteed launch feature. The final scope may change as I evaluate development progress and community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build includes three explorable islands and teeth from 50 shark species. Players can search beaches, craft necklaces, trade, develop their museum, browse illustrated shark journal cards, furnish and expand their shop, and complete village commissions.

The islands feature a day-and-night cycle, changing tides, storms, wildlife, and wandering villagers. I am actively working on character presentation, balancing, and performance, and players may encounter bugs or rough edges.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. I plan to increase the price by the end of development at full release, reflecting the additional content and improvements planned during development. Players who purchase during Early Access will receive the full release at no additional cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan to use Steam Discussions and my support email to gather bug reports, suggestions, and feedback. I am particularly interested in collection pacing, upgrade costs, shop and museum usability, accessibility, and performance across different computers.

Player feedback will help guide my priorities. I plan to share development updates and explain significant changes as the game evolves.”

About This Game

Small treasures. An ocean of stories.

Tooth & Tide is a relaxing, single-player island adventure about beachcombing, collecting shark teeth, and turning your discoveries into a growing museum and seaside shop.

Follow the tides

Explore tropical shores across three islands, from your first island home to Pearl Cay and volcanic Ember Atoll. Search the sand for teeth and watch low tide reveal sandbars and new places to explore. Changing weather brings different opportunities: spend a stormy day crafting and tending your shop, then return to the beach to see what washed ashore.

Build your collection

Discover teeth from 50 shark species, including living sharks and prehistoric giants. Find specimens of different qualities, preserve your pristine discoveries, and complete shark jaw displays for your museum. Learn about the sharks behind your collection through illustrated journal cards.

Craft, trade, and grow

Turn matching teeth into necklaces, sell your creations, and save for equipment and island upgrades. Furnish your shop with displays for visiting customers, expand your retail space separately from your museum, and take on village commissions as you progress.

Settle into island life

Wander among tropical huts, watch wildlife around the shoreline, and explore to a relaxed soundtrack. Day and night, changing tides, and passing storms give each day its own rhythm. When you’re ready to rest, head home and sleep before beginning another day of discoveries.
