What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“DEADGATE is an extraction shooter, and most of what makes it work depends on real players in real raids: how long contracts take, how much pressure the zombies put on a squad, how loot and the economy feel, and how fights between squads play out on 32-player servers. Internal testing alone cannot answer these questions.

The full raid loop is already playable. Early Access lets us test it with players at scale, fix problems quickly and shape the rest of development around what players actually do in raids. We intend to keep developing DEADGATE toward a full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect DEADGATE to stay in Early Access for about 12 to 18 months. This is an estimate, not a fixed date: the final length depends on player feedback and on how much balance and server performance need to change once many players are in raids at the same time.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our current plans for the full version:
- pressure that builds during the raid, with more zombies as the island clock runs toward midnight
- more contract types and objectives
- support for more languages
- seasonal rewards and leaderboards for ranked play
- balance changes to weapons, loot and the economy based on raid data and feedback
- continued work on performance, stability and server-side checks

These plans may change based on what we learn from players during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The full raid loop is playable. The current version includes:
- matchmaking into online raids of up to 32 players on dedicated servers, matched by connection quality and skill rating
- queue alone or as a squad of up to four with Steam friends; solo players are not placed into random squads
- one map: an island of about 2 km² with 25 named areas
- 6 contract types with three difficulty levels and chained, any-order and rush variants
- contract exits through four quarantine gates, emergency exits through three metro stations from 16:40, and a raid that ends at midnight on the island clock (about 42 minutes)
- hundreds of zombies that react to sight and sound, with limb damage and dismemberment
- 10 firearms, a crossbow and 3 melee weapons, plus armor, helmets, backpacks, a chest rig, food, water and medical items
- a weight-limited inventory and a health system with six body regions, bleeding, hunger and thirst
- a persistent stash, credits, an in-game shop, seven rank tiers and career stats

The interface is available in English and Turkish. Expect bugs, balance changes and performance issues. Progress such as your stash and rank may be reset during Early Access, for example at the start of a new season.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price for the full release, so the Early Access version is the lowest price we plan to offer. The game offers optional credit packs, sold through Steam, that add in-game credits for the shop. Credits are also earned by playing: contracts pay credits and you can sell the loot you extract, and the best gear is found only in raids.
”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We read and answer the Steam Discussions, and we plan to post patch notes with every update and a development update about once a month on Steam. Player feedback and aggregate raid statistics, such as extraction rates, contract completion and causes of death, decide what we balance next. For bigger changes we plan to run playtests before they go live, and we share our priorities openly in our updates.

About This Game

DEADGATE is a first-person extraction shooter for up to 32 players, set on a quarantined island overrun by the dead. You go in with a contract and the gear you chose to risk. Finish the job, take what you can carry and reach your exit before midnight. If you die, everything you brought stays on the island.

No contract, no exit

Every raid starts with a contract: download data from two terminals, carry a fuse to a power panel, collect a sample, scout three observation points, deliver a supply bag or switch on two radio relays. Your quarantine gate stays locked until the job is done. Contracts change every raid. On a chained contract, the next search area appears on your map only after you finish the current step. Rush contracts pay 50% more credits if you finish before 16:00.
  • Contract complete: your quarantine gate opens. Extract with your loot, XP and credits.
  • 16:40: the metro stations open as emergency exits. You keep your loot but earn no XP.
  • Midnight: the island closes. Anyone still inside loses everything they carry.

The dead hear you

Hundreds of zombies roam the island, and they are placed differently every match. They see you, hear your footsteps and come for the sound of gunfire. A well-placed shot can take off a limb or drop one where it stands, but every shot also tells everyone nearby where you are.

Other squads want out too

Play solo or in a squad of up to four with your Steam friends. Every other team is working its own contract, and sooner or later your routes cross. Firefights are loud, and the dead come to the noise.

Pack for the risk

  • Pistols, revolvers, shotguns, an SMG, assault and battle rifles, a crossbow and a scoped hunting rifle, plus knives, bats and fire axes.
  • Light, medium and heavy armor, helmets, backpacks and a chest rig.
  • Everything you carry counts toward a 30 kg limit. The heavier your load, the slower you move and the sooner you run out of breath.
  • Search homes, shops, the hospital, military sites and abandoned car trunks for food, water, medicine, ammo and valuables. Some of the best gear can't be bought; you have to find it.

Wounds need treatment

Six body regions can be injured or badly injured. Bleeding drains a separate blood reserve, and hunger and thirst wear you down. Treating a wound takes a few seconds, lowers your weapon and slows you down; if you are hit, the treatment stops and nothing is used up. The HUD shows a compass, the time and your ammo. Your health and gear live in the inventory.

The island

The island is about 1.5 km across, with nearly 2 km² of land and roughly 6 km of coastline, half cliffs and half beaches. It is split into 25 named areas: a valley city, a high-rise district with two towers you can climb, villages, farms and greenhouses, an industrial zone, a quarry, a military camp, a state hospital, a cemetery, a stadium, a shantytown, a landfill, a solar plant and a wind farm. A river runs through the middle of the island into a lake and on to the sea. Four quarantine gates and three metro stations are the only ways out.

This is the map you carry in a raid. It shows your contract areas and the exits, never your position: you find your way by landmarks and the compass.

Day into night

Every raid runs from 10:00 to midnight on the island clock, about 42 minutes. The sun goes down while you work, and the last hours are played in the dark under the moon and stars.

Climb the ranks

Extracting earns rank points and dying costs them. Climb seven tiers in ranked seasons. Your stash, credits and career carry over between raids: spend credits in the shop, sell what you don't need and decide what to risk on the next run.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Some store/library marketing art was created with the assistance of AI image generation tools, followed by manual editing. All in-game assets are not AI-generated. We have rights to use the generated images and they do not infringe third-party IP.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

DEADGATE is a first-person extraction shooter with frequent, realistic violence and gore. Players fight zombies and other players (PvP) with firearms and melee weapons. Hits show blood, entry and exit wounds, blood spray and pools of blood. Zombies can be dismembered: limbs can be shot off, heads can be destroyed or severed, and zombies that lose a leg crawl. Killed zombies and players fall as ragdoll bodies, and a fallen player's gear can be looted.

The world contains disturbing scenes: looted, blood-stained apartments with bloody handprints and warning graffiti, and a cemetery with a mass burial site showing shrouded bodies, body bags and coffins. The player character can be wounded, bleed and die from blood loss; healing uses medical items such as syringes, bandages and blood bags.

There is no sexual content or nudity.
