I Was Reincarnated with the [Idle] Skill, and Now I Do Nothing
Every hero summoned to this world got an amazing skill. You got [Idle]: you only get stronger while doing absolutely nothing. Your party fights the Demon Lord's armies. You nap under a tree and collect all the EXP. An idle comedy that plays better when you're not playing it.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game is playable from the first nap to the ending, but an idle game lives or dies on its pacing, and you only get pacing right by watching a lot of people play over days, not minutes. Early Access lets me tune the numbers with real players, replace the placeholder music and sound, and finish the presentation while the game is already in your hands. Three rounds of public playtest feedback have shaped the game so far, and I want to keep building it that way.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About six months. It may be shorter or longer, depending on what players find and ask for.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to:
- Replace the placeholder music and sound effects with an original soundtrack and sounds, starting with the poke and the nap stage-up fanfare.
- Give each world its own lineup of monsters, with a boss.
- Write more skits, quest reports and artifacts, including skits specific to each world.
- Add Steam Cloud saves, so a life can move between a PC and a Steam Deck.
- Polish the game for Steam Deck: larger small text, and controller access to everything that currently only shows on mouse hover.
- Keep tuning the balance, especially poking and quest rewards.
If there's interest, I'd also like to explore more worlds beyond the current three, and more languages.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The whole game is playable from start to finish:
- The core loop: Namake sleeps through seven nap stages for up to ×14 EXP, and you can poke him (it costs a stage).
- Four party members with resentment meters and 32 skits.
- The quest board, with three quest lengths and 20 artifacts.
- Reincarnation, the 14-upgrade Wheel of Reincarnation, and three worlds.
- Offline progress at 150%, with a welcome-back report.
- The ending, and New Game+ after it.
- 19 achievements, full controller support, English and Latin American Spanish.
Reaching the ending takes a few hours. Still rough: the music and sound effects are placeholders, the monsters are simple shapes, some of the balance is still being tuned, there are no cloud saves yet, and the game isn't Steam Deck Verified yet.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to raise the price modestly when the game leaves Early Access, to reflect the added content. Everyone who buys during Early Access gets every update and the full release at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Three rounds of public playtest feedback have already shaped the game: the quest system, how poking is taught, and the in-game explanations all changed because of it. During Early Access I plan to:
- Read the Steam discussions and reviews, and keep a visible list of known issues and what I'm working on.
- Post patch notes with every update, saying what changed and why.
- When I can, try bigger balance changes with players before they ship, for example on a public beta branch.”

About This Game

The skill nobody wanted

Every hero summoned to the kingdom of Nemuria got a skill worth bragging about. Sir Tateo got [Swordmaster]. Maho got [Archmage]. Namake got [Idle], and his power only grows while he does absolutely nothing.

So he does nothing. His party fights the Demon Lord's armies. He naps under a tree and collects 100% of the EXP. They have noticed.

Features

  • Do nothing, professionally. The longer you leave him alone, the deeper he sleeps: from Doze to Enlightenment, for up to ×14 EXP.
  • Poke him (you'll want to). It helps at the start. Later it's a mistake, and it costs a nap stage. Your party will judge you either way.
  • A party that resents you. Four heroes, four resentment meters, and more than 30 skits where they finally say something. Every reply is a different way of doing nothing.
  • The Dream Interface. Every menu is Namake giving orders in his sleep. Upgrades, quests and party management never wake him.
  • Quests while you sleep. Send heroes on errands from 2 minutes to 8-hour Odysseys. They come back with gold, written reports, and 20 artifacts with names like the Blanket of Holding.
  • Die peacefully, then do it again. When a life plateaus, Namake dies of old age in his sleep. Spend Karma on the Wheel of Reincarnation's 14 permanent upgrades, then wake up in a new world: the Meadows of Nemuria, the Magic Academy, the Demon Lord's Castle.
  • True idle. Time away pays 150% of the online rate, and he keeps sleeping deeper while you're gone. Come back to a report of everything you didn't do.
  • A final exam. The [Idle] skill has one last test. Very few will pass it.

Also

  • 19 Steam achievements, including one for not launching the game for a week
  • Full controller support
  • English and Latin American Spanish
