What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The four heroines and the core of the conversation are already in place. I'm making this game because I want to be able to speak English myself. Rather than wait until everything is finished, I'd like to keep improving the conversations, the stories and the way the heroines are written, with feedback from the people who play.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I expect Early Access to last around 6 to 12 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Planned for the full (1.0) release: the rest of all four heroines' stories through to their endings, better understanding of what you say, more stories and daily topics, more places in Japan and seasonal events, and stable play on both Windows and Mac. These plans may change based on player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“You can play the early-to-middle part of all four stories. Daily visits, gifts, the Memories screen, the wordbook and the after-date review are all available now.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The Early Access price is lower than the planned full-release price. I plan to raise the price gradually as major new content and features ship on the way to the full (1.0) release. Before any price increase, I'll announce it in advance on the store page.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I'm collecting feedback and requests in the Steam discussions, and each update's announcement will explain what was changed in response.”

About This Game

Say it in your own English. Can you make her smile?

A lovely woman is right in front of you. You find the courage to say hello in Japanese or Chinese, and she doesn't understand a word!
This is a dating sim for Japanese and Chinese speakers who want to speak English. There are no dialogue choices. You say what you want to tell her in your own English, by voice or on the keyboard. Her lines stay in English, and a translation appears only if you ask for one.

When she understands you, her face softens and she smiles. As you grow closer, some days she quietly tells you something she hasn't told anyone else.
When she doesn't, she gives you a puzzled little smile and says something like "Sorry... I don't understand." Then she waits quietly while you try again. Searching for the words while she looks at you, a little awkward and a little heart-pounding, is part of the fun.
No classroom. No monthly fee. No real person watching you make mistakes. Just four women waiting to hear your English.

Mistakes stay between you two

Making mistakes in English with a real person can be scary. Here, however many times you get it wrong, it stays a secret between you and her.
If she doesn't understand, try saying it another way. The number of retries depends on the difficulty level: on Casual you can try as many times as you like, and on the default Normal level you get two retries for each of her questions (after that, the story moves on even if she hasn't understood).
After each date, you can press a button to look back at some of what you said, next to a more natural way to say it. The review doesn't catch every mistake. What you see there is something to build on next time.

This game is for you if...

  • You want to practice speaking English, but there is no one to practice with.
  • You are afraid of making mistakes in front of real people.
  • You have tried English classes or apps, but found it hard to keep going.
  • Monthly fees for English lessons or apps feel like too much.
  • You are tired of dating games where you only pick from a menu of lines.
  • You enjoy stories about growing close to someone from abroad.
Right now the game supports Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese speakers. Your first language sets the menus, the dictionary meanings and the translations. If English is your first language, this game is not made for you: it is made for people who want to practice speaking English, and the conversations happen inside scenes designed in advance, so it is not an open chat with an AI companion.

Four heroines, each with her own English

All four are living in Japan, far from home. The level in parentheses shows roughly how hard her English is. It uses CEFR, an international scale: A1 is the easiest, then A2, then B1.
  • Mira (A2): A librarian from Dublin. She teases you with sarcasm and puns, but she'll search hard for a book you can actually read.
  • Sofia (A1, the easiest): A barista from San Diego. She loves to talk and is good at keeping the conversation going. She writes your name on the cup, spells it wrong, and laughs as she writes it again.
  • Chloe (B1, a little harder): An art student from London. She's cool and rarely gives compliments, so from her, "Not bad" is the highest praise.
  • Amara (A2): A doctor from Nairobi who does medical research. She's kind to everyone and always seems so dependable that nobody ever worries about her. But maybe, deep down, she'd like someone to ask her, "Are you okay?"
If you don't understand an expression from her hometown, just ask ("What does grand mean?") and she may explain it in simple English.

Sometimes, she brings up what you told her

What you've told her, what you like and your plans: she may bring them up herself in a later conversation (not every time, and with limits on how often).
When she talks about something she loves, add that English word to your wordbook. You can only give her items whose English names are in your wordbook.
Get through to her day after day, and on milestone days she'll send you gifts: a note, a voice message, a photo and more, with a letter on day 50. You can give her gifts and celebrate anniversaries too.
If you get busy and can't visit for a while, she won't hold it against you. She might miss you a little, though...
The gifts she's given you and the illustrations of your moments together can be revisited on the Memories screen at any time.

Features for learning English

  • You can speak to her or type your replies. Speaking out loud is the better way. When the words won't come, or you're somewhere you can't talk, you can switch to the keyboard at any time.
  • Click a word she says to see what it means. Words you add to your wordbook come back for review at spaced intervals (spaced repetition).
  • By default, suggestions and corrections wait for you after the date (press a button to see them), so they don't interrupt the conversation. The number of sentences reviewed and the number of corrections for each sentence are limited, so it won't catch every mistake. If you'd like to see them right away, turn on "Show wording tips during the date" in Settings.
  • From the second day on, the review at the end of each day compares your accuracy, sentence length and range of vocabulary with the day before, and shows how many words you've spoken in English so far.
  • Pronunciation hints are designed around sounds that Japanese speakers often find difficult (L/R, TH, V/B, and adding extra vowels at the end of words).
  • There are four difficulty levels. Casual, the easiest: try again as often as you like, and affection never drops (though some scenes only appear when she understands you). Normal, the default: two retries for each of her questions, then the story moves on. Strict: one retry. Spartan, the hardest: in principle no second chances. On every level except Casual, affection drops if she doesn't understand you at all, and on Spartan the drop is bigger; her listening gets stricter too.

The in-game AI runs on your PC

While you play, all of the game's AI runs on your own PC, not on an external server.
No account or subscription is required, and nothing you type or say is sent to a server to be processed. If you turn on Steam Cloud, though, your save data (including lines you said and what she remembers about you) is synced through Steam.
Because the AI runs on your PC, her replies can be slower on an older computer. Please check the system requirements.
You can visit her every day, whenever you like. The longer you keep playing, the more memories you'll share with her.

From the creator

For years, I kept signing up for English classes and trying new apps, only to give up each time.
People told me to make friends from abroad or find a foreign partner, but I'm not that outgoing.
What I wanted was a game that is genuinely fun and still lets you practice English seriously, one you can keep coming back to. So I decided to make it myself.
I sincerely hope that anyone who has struggled the same way will enjoy talking with these four women and keep speaking English, little by little.

In Early Access, I'll keep improving it with your feedback

I'm making this game because I want to be able to speak English myself, so I have no intention of releasing it and walking away.
In Early Access you can play the early-to-middle part of all four stories. The conversation is the part I want to improve most.
I'll read every piece of feedback and every request, and keep improving the conversations, the stories and the way the heroines are written.
Going forward, I also plan to work on versions for learning languages other than English, a version for women players, and a stronger conversation AI.

How the game uses AI

The story and the goal of each scene were designed in advance.
The AI phrases her replies within each scene. It never decides where the story goes.
Her replies may sometimes not quite match what you said, or she may repeat a question. When that happens, try saying it another way.
Character art, event illustrations, voices and music were created using generative AI that is licensed for commercial use.

Other notes

  • The menus, dictionary meanings and translations are shown in Japanese, Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese, depending on your first language.
  • All characters are adults. There is no sexual content.
  • Pronunciation hints and corrections are for guidance only and are not a substitute for a language test or certification.
  • New outfits and new heroines (for example, one who is good at business English) are planned as add-on content. The full release is being made so you can enjoy the main story without buying any add-ons.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Character art, event illustrations, backgrounds, gift pictures, the heroines' voices, the background music and some sound effects were created with generative AI tools licensed for commercial use. The voices are synthetic and are not cloned from any real person. AI writing assistance was also used for the story, characters and dialogue.

During conversations, a language model that runs entirely on your own computer phrases the heroine's replies inside story scenes designed in advance; it does not decide the plot. It also writes translations when you ask and short coaching notes after a date. Unrecorded lines are voiced on your computer, and speech you say into the microphone is transcribed on your computer. Nothing you type or say is sent to an outside server for processing (if you use Steam Cloud, your save data is synced through Steam). Every generated reply is checked while it appears and again when it is complete; replies with sexual wording, hateful language, mixed languages, references to being an AI or to its instructions, or that ignore what you said are removed, and if no reply passes, the heroine says a pre-written line.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Romance between adults. Some scenes talk about grief and the loss of a family member, and characters mention drinks such as beer at festivals. You type or say anything you like; a local AI on your PC replies within guardrails, and a reply that fails the checks is replaced by a pre-written line. The game has buttons that open the Steam store page for optional add-ons.
