What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Lumenfall is already playable from the first driftwood to the Dawn: five islands, your own skyship, freight routes and co-op for up to four players. Early Access lets us finish it together with the people who play it. How a factory game feels — its pacing, balance and comfort — depends on the many different factories players build, and your feedback helps us get that right.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Lumenfall to stay in Early Access for roughly 6 to 12 months. The exact time depends on your feedback and on what we add along the way.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We want to add more islands to explore, dungeon-like missions you can take on alone or together in co-op, and bigger bosses that stand in your way as you drive the Gloom out everywhere and bring the Dawn to every island. Alongside that, we'll keep polishing balance, performance and comfort, guided by what the community tells us.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The whole journey is playable, from the first driftwood to the Dawn: five islands, 70 buildings, 92 items, more than 70 recipes, 33 discoveries across eight eras, a skyship you build and steer yourself, freight routes between the islands, 42 pieces for building houses, and co-op for 1–4 players over Steam or direct IP. Expect some rough edges and bugs, which we keep fixing.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price stays the same throughout Early Access. As the game grows, the price of the full release may be higher; everyone who buys during Early Access gets all updates at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the Steam discussions and regular updates with patch notes. We read your feedback and bug reports there, and they shape what we work on next — from balance changes to new features.”

About This Game

The world sank into the Gloom. One light remains.

Lumenfall is a cozy first-person factory and building adventure on islands floating above an endless sea of clouds. You wake beside the Heart of Light with nothing but your bare hands. Gather, craft, research and automate — and push the living dark back, one light at a time.

Build a factory in the sky

From a handful of driftwood to a roaring works that climbs storey on storey. Lay conveyor belts and lift them up on trestles, send goods up and down with item lifts and ramps, and let inserter arms feed presses, smelters, gear cutters and assemblers day and night. Windmills and waterwheels drive your clockwork; aether condensers bottle the gas that is lighter than air.

  • 70 buildings, 92 items and more than 70 recipes

  • Belts on two levels, ramps, item lifts, splitters, filters, tunnels and signals

  • Blueprints: copy a whole production line and paste it anywhere

  • 33 discoveries across eight eras — from the Hearth to Clockwork, Aether and Skyfaring

Push back the Gloom

The Gloom is a violet, living dark — and out of the Heart's light the cold creeps into your bones. Feed the Heart, raise beacons whose sweeping beams roll the darkness back through the trees, and win the island back step by step. The long goal: the Dawn, breaking across the whole archipelago.

Take the helm of your own skyship

Build a Sky Harbor on the island's edge and raise your skyship stage by stage — keel, hull, envelope, engines and the Gloom lantern. Then cast off and steer her yourself: out over the sea of clouds, past islets riding on their own clouds, toward the lantern spires that mark a pass through the great mountains.

Into the dark — and what lives there

Beyond the pass lies the pitch-black Gloom, and only your lantern lights the way. Walk her decks as she flies — and watch the sky whales rise out of the dark cloud beside you, glowing.

Five islands, five worlds

The black sand and lava of Ember Isle. The frozen lake and snowbound pines of Frostcrown. The bog and giant glowcaps of Mirewood. The ruined star-watchers' city of Starfall, where fallen stars still hum. Every island has its own ground, resources, machines and dangers — set up freight routes and let your fleet of skyships carry the goods between them.

A home among the clouds

Build log cabins and stone houses piece by piece — 42 pieces: foundations, walls, windows, doors, stairs, roofs and chimneys. Light the hearth, farm and cook, plant trees, and watch deer and rabbits graze at the edge of your works while fireflies come out at dusk.

Better together

Play the whole adventure alone or in co-op with up to three friends, over Steam or direct IP: build the works together, crew the skyship together, and walk her decks side by side through the Gloom.
