What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I want to release Heiresis in Early Access first because I strongly believe that this is the best way to make a complex game like this as a solo developer, I want to see how people interact with the combat, movement and difficulty, identify what works and what needs improvement, whats working well and what needs more balancing.
Early Access will also give me the chance to expand the game over time, add new content and make this something trully unique with the help of the community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“As a solo developer, there are many other variables that could affect this, such as finding a publisher and being able to work exclusively on the game versus having to work part-time on it. However, I'm expecting the game to be in Early Access for approximately one year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will contain more levels, upgrades, weapons, enemies, and round modifiers, as well as improved meta-progression and co-op.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“A fully playable vertical slice featuring 12–15 unique rounds, 4 weapons, numerous upgrades, platforming challenges, and basic split-screen co-op multiplayer.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, even though the price is not yet set in stone, I'm expecting the game to receive a slight price increase once 1.0 releases and the game exits Early Access, as a way of rewarding the players who trusted me during development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Feedback will be taken to heart and listened to. I'm open to expanding and focusing on the areas that the community finds most important while keeping the core of the experience intact.”

About This Game

A LOVE LETTER TO MOVEMENT SHOOTERS

Heiresis is a love letter to movement shooters, old-school Call of Duty Zombies and the kind of roguelites that make you say "just one more run" for the tenth time.

It's a game about moving fast, killing things and making increasingly ridiculous builds. Grapple across rooftops, dash through hordes of grotesque creatures and switch between an arsenal of cannons fused to your arm. Find upgrades that let you fire every cannon at once, reload one weapon while using another, and discover combinations that can turn an ordinary run into something completely different.

But don't get too comfortable. Each round can bring unexpected challenges, and a single mistake can cost you dearly.

RING THE BELL

Explore the village, learn its streets and prepare yourself. When you're ready, ring the bell and face the next round.

Every round can bring its own twists. Rising waters, electrical storms, deadly cages and other modifiers can turn familiar encounters into entirely new challenges.

Between rounds, decide how to spend your souls. Unlock new areas, open up traversal routes, visit the shrine of a mysterious Virgin Mary statue or take a break from the violence and venture into Limbo.

GET ATTACHED TO YOUR WEAPONS

Your arm carries a rotating arsenal of cannons, each with its own strengths and uses. But the weapons you find are only the beginning.

Collect upgrades, experiment with different combinations and make the most of your arsenal. At the end of Limbo's parkour challenges, you can even turn one of your weapons golden, making it significantly more powerful. Sometimes, all it takes is one good weapon to make a run feel special.

And when a run eventually comes to an end, your efforts won't go to waste. Collect gold and donate it to the church to unlock new weapons and upgrades for future attempts.

TWO WORLDS, ONE NIGHTMARE

Heiresis takes place in a dark, twisted vision of 19th-century Spain.

Explore a rain-soaked Andalusian village filled with narrow streets, forgotten buildings, grotesque creatures and traces of a world that has long since fallen apart.

Beyond the village lies Limbo, a strange realm reached through an elevator suspended from an impossibly long chain. A place of enormous Moorish and Arabic-inspired structures, where architecture feels less like something built by human hands and more like the remains of a world once inhabited by gods.

There's a story to uncover, but you won't find it in endless dialogue or walls of text. The world, its creatures and the things you encounter along the way tell it for you.

A DARK WORLD. A FUN GAME.

Heiresis might look like a nightmare, but at its heart, it's a video game. One that wants you to have fun.

Big numbers, ridiculous amounts of particles, slow-motion kills, satisfying upgrades and that little rush you get when your build starts coming together. The game isn't afraid to show its mechanics, celebrate your achievements or turn a particularly good moment into a spectacle.

Take a moment to admire the scenery, use Director Mode to capture the atmosphere or simply enjoy the darkness of its world. But once the action starts, there's no mistaking what Heiresis is about.

Killing monsters, moving fast and having a good time.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Heiresis contains frequent depictions of violence, including blood and gore, enemies being shot and killed. Some enemies may feature slightly disturbing imagery.

The game does not contain sexual acts or sexual assault. There may be references to religious themes and dark or disturbing imagery.
