What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Deckbound is a solo-developed game, and the deckbuilding is at its best when it's shaped by the people playing it. Card balance, class synergies and boss difficulty all benefit from real players finding the broken combos I never would. Early Access lets me tune the game around how you actually play, and grow the content with your feedback rather than in isolation.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Around 6–12 months, depending on feedback and how much content the community wants before 1.0.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to include:

More cards for every class, and new card synergies
Additional biomes, enemies and bosses
Deeper sub-dungeons (dungeons within sub-dungeons)
Original music and a full sound pass
Controller support polish and more accessibility options
Balance changes driven by player feedback
More cosmetics, relics and achievements”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Deckbound is fully playable from start to finish, solo or in co-op with up to 4 players. It currently includes 4 classes, 61 collectible cards, 32 relics, 16 enemies, 4 bosses, 4 main biomes plus 4 sub-dungeon types, a hub town with 10 stations, and 28 achievements. Audio is currently placeholder, and balance is still being tuned.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Deckbound is free to play during Early Access and will remain free at full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Deckbound is free, and it's built with its players. I read every post in the Steam Discussions and Community hub, from bug reports and balance complaints to card ideas and "this combo is broken" discoveries. Regular update posts will explain what changed and why. Player feedback directly decides which cards get buffed, nerfed or reworked, which classes and bosses need attention, and what content gets built next. Co-op players especially: tell me what breaks. The best ideas from the community may even make it into the game as cards, relics or enemies.”

About This Game

Your deck is your only weapon.

You have been summoned to save a world ruled by Vorthax, the Demon Lord. You have no spells, no skills, no special moves - only cards. Every attack, shield, summon, dash and fireball is a card in your hand.

Real-time card combat

This is not a turn-based card game. Move, dodge and shoot in real time while a four-card hand refills beneath you. Pick a card and time slows to a crawl while you aim, then the chaos resumes. Chain Oil Flask into Fireball, freeze a crowd and shatter it with Heavy Strike, or bleed a boss dry and harvest it for health.

A collection that survives your mistakes

Every card you find is real loot. Bring it home and it joins your permanent collection forever - build, tune and theory-craft your 60-card decks between expeditions. Die in the dungeon and everything you were carrying is lost. Push one room deeper, or hold to teleport home? That choice is the game.

Dungeons inside dungeons

Procedurally generated dungeons hide shops, shrines, secret rooms, elite monsters - and doorways into smaller, deadlier sub-dungeons with their own guardians and treasure.

Bring friends

Drop into the same dungeon with up to three friends. Everyone brings their own class, deck and collection, and loot is per player - no fighting over drops.

  • 4 classes - Knight, Ranger, Mage and Necromancer - each with its own resource and starter deck

  • 60+ collectible cards across five rarities, plus upgraded forms forged at the Blacksmith

  • Real-time bullet-hell combat with slow-motion card targeting

  • 4 dungeons and 4 hidden sub-dungeons, each with its own monsters and loot

  • Multi-phase bosses: The Bramble Queen, Morrowgrave the Lich, The Ashen Knight and Vorthax, the Demon Lord

  • 30+ relics that bend the rules, from Ember Crown to Mirror Sigil

  • 2-4 player online and LAN co-op with instanced loot

  • A seeded Daily Expedition - same dungeon for everyone, every day

  • A town hub with a merchant, blacksmith, tailor, archivist and training grounds

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Deckbound was designed and directed by a solo developer. Generative AI was used as a tool during development to help write in-game text (card, item and enemy descriptions), and produce the pixel artwork. All of it was reviewed, edited and curated by hand. The game itself does not use AI while you play — nothing is generated in real time.
