What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Stellar Ascendancy models a large number of interconnected systems across strategy, economy, diplomacy, research, logistics, and combat. Because changes in one area can affect many others, meaningful player feedback is essential for balancing the game and refining its design. Early Access will help us understand how different players approach these systems, identify areas that are unclear or unbalanced, and improve the overall experience before full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Stellar Ascendancy to remain in Early Access for approximately three months. This estimate may change based on player feedback, balancing needs, and the time required to address stability or usability issues.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Stellar Ascendancy is feature-complete in Early Access, with its core strategic systems and intended gameplay experience already in place. The full version is planned to focus on further balancing, interface and usability improvements, clearer guidance for complex systems, and additional polish across AI, diplomacy, economy, logistics, research, and combat. We also plan to continue developing the game's mod-building tools. Player feedback will guide these refinements.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is fully playable and feature-complete. Players can experience single-player and multiplayer matches with multiple playable civilizations, galaxy setup options, exploration, colonization, research, economic management, diplomacy, espionage, ship design, fleet management, and tactical space combat. Mod support is available, although the tools for creating mods are still being improved. As a beta, players should expect ongoing balance changes, interface refinements, and occasional bugs while we prepare for full release.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to offer Stellar Ascendancy at a modestly lower price during Early Access. The price is expected to increase when the game reaches its full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to gather feedback through Steam Community discussions and our support channels, with particular attention to balance, usability, system clarity, multiplayer, and bug reports. We will review recurring concerns and player experiences, use that information to guide updates and refinements, and communicate meaningful changes through announcements and patch notes.”

About This Game

Stellar Ascendancy is a turn-based 4X strategy game about building an interstellar civilization that can survive—and ultimately master—a contested galaxy.

Begin with a single homeworld and a small starting force. Explore unknown space, establish colonies, develop a sustainable economy, research new technologies, and assemble fleets capable of defending everything you have built. Every decision shapes the future of your empire.

BUILD AN EMPIRE

Colonize valuable worlds and develop them to support industry, research, logistics, or frontier defense. Balance credits, minerals, rare metals, fuel, population, and scientific progress while keeping your growing civilization financially and militarily secure.

DESIGN AND COMMAND YOUR FLEETS

Research new hulls and components, then create warship designs suited to your strategy. Organize fleets ranging from light frigates and destroyers to battleships and dreadnaughts, supported by colony ships, transports, troop ships, and dedicated tankers.

Fight battles under direct tactical control or use automatic resolution when you want to keep the campaign moving. Ships and admirals gain experience, victories and losses become part of their service histories, and retreating to preserve a veteran force can be as important as winning the current battle.

DIPLOMACY, ESPIONAGE, OR WAR

Trade with neighboring civilizations, negotiate alliances, exchange research, offer tribute, demand surrender, or declare war. Send agents to gather intelligence, steal technology, and sabotage hostile production. As one empire grows dangerously powerful, the rest of the galaxy may unite against it.

CONQUER WORLDS—OR DESTROY THEM

Defeat defending fleets, secure planetary orbit, bombard military and industrial targets, and launch ground invasions using troop ships. Every campaign depends on fuel, repair facilities, reinforcements, and the ability to hold what you capture.

CHOOSE HOW THE GALAXY IS WON

Pursue military elimination, galactic domination, economic supremacy, technological ascension, political union, or victory through imperial score. Your chosen victory condition changes what matters most and how rival empires respond to your rise.

PLAY YOUR WAY

Configure the galaxy’s size, shape, opponents, difficulty, opening peace period, and fog of war. Play alone against computer-controlled empires, share one computer through local hot-seat play, or challenge another player through internet multiplayer. Supported custom content can introduce new visuals, data, races, ships, and other game assets.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Generative AI was used as part of the creation process for some pre-generated 2D ship artwork. All such assets were reviewed and integrated by the developer. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay or connect to external AI services.
