Coming Soon To Early Access

The developers of this game intend to release as a work in progress, developing with the feedback of players.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“ISTAKA is a roguelike built on Okey, and roguelikes live or die on balance and variety. A full run is already playable from the first table in the basement to the Rooftop, but the best way to tune nine venues, seven racks and dozens of interacting tiles and skills is with real players. Early Access lets us see how people actually play: which builds feel too strong or too weak, which opponents are unfair, and where new players get stuck. We want to shape the rest of development around that.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect ISTAKA to stay in Early Access for roughly 6 to 12 months. The exact length will depend on player feedback and on how much the game grows along the way.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand the game in three directions:

- More variety: new racks, opponents, bosses, special tiles, techniques and workshop services, so that every run plays out differently.
- More long-term goals: new challenge settings beyond the current Decibel levels, more achievements, and a deeper New Game+ where the club remembers the opponents you keep beating.
- Polish and balance: tuning based on Early Access feedback, plus more effects, sound and music, and quality-of-life improvements.

We also plan to look into controller and Steam Deck support. What ends up in the full version will depend on what players enjoy and ask for.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is a complete, playable run:

- 9 venues from the basement to the Rooftop, 27 tables per run
- 8 regular opponents and 9 bosses, each with their own intents, table rules and bone tile
- 7 racks, each with its own passive and signature skill, plus 8 techniques to collect
- 12 special tile types, a workshop with 5 services, tile packs and HP upgrades in the shop
- Decibel difficulty levels 0 to 5
- Enemy anger: opponents you keep beating come back tougher, unless you bribe them
- A tutorial, a collection that fills in as you discover things, and 30 Steam achievements
- 15 languages: English, Turkish, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian and European Portuguese, Russian, Greek, Arabic, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese

A full run takes about 90 minutes. Balance is still being tuned and you may run into bugs; we will fix them as quickly as we can.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price gradually as larger content updates arrive, with the final price set at full release. Buying during Early Access is the cheapest way to get the game, and every update is included at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player feedback will directly shape balance and new content. We read the Steam discussions and reviews, and we plan to:

- publish patch notes with every update, explaining what changed and why
- share our plans in regular development updates and ask for input on what comes next
- run community polls on upcoming racks, opponents and features
- keep a dedicated bug-report thread and respond to reports as quickly as we can”

About This Game

Every meld hits. Every table raises the stakes.

ISTAKA combines Okey’s tile-matching mechanics with roguelite deckbuilding and head-to-head battles. Take a seat in an underground club pulsing with techno. Strengthen your tiles, stack multipliers, and time your moves to defeat the masked opponent across the table.

Every meld you play takes a bite out of their health. Every meld they play takes a bite out of yours.

Arrange your tiles. Unleash your combo.

Connect consecutive numbers of the same color, match equal numbers in different colors, or play pairs. There’s no opening score requirement: use the combinations you have, and play multiple melds in the same turn to build your combo multiplier.

Strike immediately to weaken your opponent, or hold your tiles for a bigger turn. Every turn you wait gives them another opportunity. Empty your hand to deal all the damage you inflicted during that hand once again.

Choose your rack. Shape your deck.

Begin each run by choosing your rack, then earn special tiles as you play and keep your best ones in your Pocket so they show up in the first hand of every table. Unlock seven racks with different abilities and advantages, and find your own approach to defense, cheating, wealth, or high-speed play.

Hit harder with glass tiles, score tiles again with seals, and boost your multipliers with holographic and neon editions. Visit the shop to duplicate tiles, change their colors and numbers, or remove those you no longer need.

Combine your special tiles with rack modules and engraved slots. Let the tiles strengthened by each victory become the foundation of your next devastating combo.

Cheat. Keep suspicion under control.

Steal a tile from your opponent, swap one of yours for theirs, or hurl a tile at them for damage. Spend nerve to use your abilities, and watch the suspicion your cheats attract. Getting caught can cost you health and lock you out of further cheating.

Keep an eye on the other side of the table, too. Opponents announce their next trick: disrupt it at the right moment to waste their move, or blunt their next hit when there is nothing to disrupt.

One more table, or straight to the boss?

Chart your own route through a nine-stage run, with a 3×3 table map at each stage. Completing a table reveals its neighbors, bringing new opponents and opportunities into view.

An extra duel can earn you more gold, rewards, and stronger tiles. But every defeat adds to your penalty meter. Challenge the boss when you’re ready: you can recover from losing an ordinary table, but losing to a boss ends your run.

Stay sharp as the tempo rises.

Masked opponents bring their own tricks and table rules. Some disable your wild tiles, others seal your modules, and some force you to make decisions in seconds.

Make the most of fast-mode bonuses beneath neon lights and pounding techno beats. As time runs short, play your tiles in the right order and unleash the combinations you’ve built.

Ready your rack. Take your seat.
