About This Game

DIG is a first-person mining game where you carve your own route through the underground.

You arrive at an abandoned mine for what looks like a straightforward contract. Dig through rock, uncover valuable ore, sell what you find and use the money to improve your tools, lamp and carrying capacity.

The mine is divided into five underground sectors, and every metre deeper takes more work to reach.

Along the way, you will find abandoned equipment, personal belongings and notes left behind by the miners who came before you. Piece together what happened to them and uncover what lies at the bottom of the mine.

Dig your own tunnels

The mine does not give you a fixed path. You make your own.

Upgrade as you descend

Sell ore and use the money to improve your pickaxe, lamp and bag.

Explore five buried sectors

Push deeper through increasingly strange areas of the mine.

Uncover the story

Find notes, objects and hidden areas that reveal what happened before you arrived.

Not every descent ends the same way

The things you uncover may decide what choices remain when you reach the bottom.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

DIG is a horror game set in an abandoned Victorian mine. It is built on dread, darkness and isolation rather than gore. There are sudden frightening moments, including a large spider and an unsettling creature found deep underground.

The story is told through notes left by the previous crew and deals with death, disappearance, grief, mental strain and a man burying a friend. There is mild swearing. Violence is limited to the use of mining tools and a hatchet; there is no blood, gore, sexual content, nudity or drug use.

One of the endings has the player character choose to give themselves up to what lives at the bottom of the mine.
