Abyss is a climbing adventure for 1–4 players. Descend into the depths, grip the rock with both hands, place pitons and lend a hand to your friends. Bring back salvage and build your camp above the abyss. Every extra piece of loot makes the climb home harder.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“An expedition in Abyss depends on how climbing feels, how salvage changes the return journey and how friends help each other. We want to develop these systems with players: learn which routes are engaging, where the controls get in the way and which camp upgrades make the next expedition better.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Roughly one month. We plan to leave Early Access around one month after launch, once the feedback from the first players has been addressed. If more time is needed, we will say so in a game announcement.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand and refine routes, expedition variety and camp progression, and to improve balance, onboarding, performance and co-op play. The scope will be shaped by player feedback. These are development goals rather than a promise of a fixed list of additions.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable solo and in online co-op for 1–4 players. It includes independent hand climbing, pitons, a lamp and safety rope equipment, salvage collection and selling, a modular camp with buildings, and saved worlds. A free demo is available so you can try it before buying. Routes, balance and stability still need further work.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We don't plan to change the price. The price during Early Access will stay the same when the game leaves Early Access. The demo stays free.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to collect feedback and bug reports through Steam discussions, share changes in game announcements and use players' experiences to refine climbing, co-op and expedition balance. Recordings of difficult sections and explanations of what players expected the controls to do are especially useful.”

About This Game

The loot is below. Home is above.

There is room for one more crystal in your pack. Do you have the strength to bring it home?

Abyss is a climbing adventure for one player or a group of up to four. Your camp overlooks a deep chasm. Below it lie salvage, dark rock faces and narrow ledges where you can catch your breath. Choose what to carry, where to prepare your route and when to turn back.

Hold on with both hands

Control your left and right hands independently. Find a grip, shift your weight, jump from the wall and catch the next hold. Watch your hands tire: solid support and a well-timed rest can save an expedition. Switch between first-person and third-person views.

Plan the climb home

Place pitons, use safety anchors and rope, and light the darkness with your lamp. Every piece of salvage adds weight to your pack and makes the return harder. A bad fall can cost you part of your haul—or all of it.

Lend a hand

Explore alone or head into the depths together. Grab a friend's hand, support each other through difficult sections and divide the haul between your packs. The group shares a camp and funds, while each climber carries their own cargo.

Build a place worth coming back to

Sell your finds and spend the proceeds on equipment and your camp. Connect decks and rooms, build a lift, and add storage and processing facilities. Rest, prepare and head out again.

Start with the free demo

The free demo lets you try Abyss before buying. The main game launches in Early Access for roughly one month, and we don't plan to change the price when it leaves Early Access.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Abyss is made by a solo developer. Generative AI tools were used as an assistant during development: to help create and edit some in-game assets and some of the marketing images on this page. Everything was selected, reworked and finalized by hand by the developer, who takes full responsibility for the quality of the result. The game does not generate any content with AI while you play.
