About This Game

The Lostwood is a dark fantasy roguelike card battler. Enter a strange forest in search of a cure for someone you love. Earn cards as you explore, then study each enemy and choose a handful of cards you own for the next fight. There is no fixed cap on your collection, but a combination that wins one fight may fail in the next.

  • Build your deck before battle—no luck of the draw. Your card collection has no size limit, but before each battle, you can only bring a handful of cards you've acquired. Once combat begins, all your selected cards remain visible—no random draws, no discard pile. Choose one card to play each turn, and reuse it whenever energy, cooldowns, and use limits allow. Energy can be saved for later turns or recovered by resting. The challenge isn't wondering what you'll draw next, but deciding which cards to bring and when to play each one.

  • Act alongside your enemies. Both sides commit their actions before they resolve, but before that you can see which card each enemy is about to play. Defenses and other nonattack effects take hold before attacks are resolved together. Every move is a response to an enemy move.

  • Defend by clashing. When you and an enemy attack each other, compare each card’s actual energy cost plus Momentum. The lower attack fails against that opponent; a tie stops both. The right strike can protect you when ordinary defense cannot.

  • Put your battle loops on autoplay. Repeat a card sequence enough times in a prolonged battle to permanently unlock Auto-Battle. Arrange your cards, set the number of loops and a safe HP threshold, then let your strategy run at double speed. Even a slow but reliable loop can eventually wear down a powerful foe.

  • Build across disciplines. Combine Warrior techniques, Berserker health gambits, Guardian protection, Mage chants, Alchemist remedies, and Scholar energy tricks. Item cards share your limited loadout slots and wear out with use; passive Collection Cards open up more possibilities.

  • Find your own way through the forest. Move between connected locations, change direction at a junction, or return along a path you have already cleared. Every move costs stamina, including backtracking. Weigh a detour to a shop, camp, or strange encounter against the journey still ahead.

The deeper you travel, the closer you come to the cure—and the price behind the forest’s promises.
