About This Game

You were Old Crumb's last champion. Then came the night the lamps went out. In the morning he was gone, and your fighting paw was broken.

You will never fight again. So you open his cellar, take in strays, and train the ones who can.

Ratiator is a management RPG about a rat dojo, the Games it fights in, and a city that is hiding something.

Raise fighters

Take in strays from the street. Each one comes with a past, a few traits and opinions about the others. Decide who trains, who rests, who works and who goes out to find food.

They make friends and rivals. They get hurt and grow old. Some of them carry a secret, and it comes out one page at a time. A dead rat does not come back.

Write their tactics

You cannot fight for them. Before the bell, you write each rat a tactic, command by command. If a heavy blow is coming, hop back. If the enemy is out of breath, lunge.

Then you stand in the corner and watch what they make of it. The towel is yours to throw.

Arm them with spoons and bottle caps

Everything they carry, a human threw away. A fork is a spear. A thimble is a helmet. A soup can is some fine piece of armor.

Scavenge the roads under the streets, craft what you bring home, and follow treasure hunts to the blueprints for the best pieces.

Climb a living ladder

Over two thousand rivals train, win and die without you. Meet them in cups for one, two or three fighters. Face beasts much bigger than a rat. Earn a place in the Flowerpot Colosseum, where the whole city watches and a knockout can kill.

Then ask what happened to Crumb

The city has an old saying: be home before the lamps go out. Nobody says why. Some nights a street goes dark, and in the morning somebody is gone.

Crumb left three orders sewn into his scarf. The third one says: do not trust the lamp man.

Under the arena there is a door with five locks. Five Legends keep the keys, and only a champion may ask for one.

The Tournaments are only where the story starts ...
