What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want to improve physics, weapon balance and controls with feedback from real matches. Early Access will help us work with players on readable hits, fair rules and reliable gameplay.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Approximately 6 to 12 months. The duration may change based on testing and player feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to focus on a stable Steam online mode, additional compact arenas, varied weapons and improvements to animation, audio, controls and balance. The exact scope may change with testing and player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current development version offers local matches for up to four players and optional bots, compact arenas, varied weapons, grappling hooks, destructible objects and adjustable rules. Steam lobbies and online gameplay transport are implemented, but testing across multiple real PCs is still pending. Online multiplayer is not yet a released feature.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually increase the price as we release major content updates during Early Access. The full release may also be priced higher than the initial Early Access version. The timing and amount of any increases have not been decided; changes will be announced in advance. Players who already own the game will receive subsequent updates and the full version without buying it again.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to collect bug reports and feedback on controls, weapons and arenas through Steam Discussions. Test results and recurring feedback will help us prioritize future updates.”

About This Game

MATO-STICK is a physics-based arena brawler for up to four rivals. Grapple across gaps, dodge a guided rocket and send your opponents into the chaos. Play locally with friends or practice against bots.

Small fighters. Arenas with a mind of their own.

A rotating beam can become your lifeline. Stacked crates turn into shifting cover. Moving platforms, conveyor belts and destructible objects make every fight a little different, from city rooftops to storm-lit gardens.

Move, aim, improvise

Use double jumps, wall jumps, dashes and a grappling hook to find a new angle. Mix ranged weapons, melee weapons and unusual special items. Steer a guided rocket or close the distance for a sword swing.

Your crew. Your rules.

Choose Last Survivor, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch or Capture the Flag. Build an arena rotation and weapon pool, then adjust health and Sudden Death. Customize your fighter's colour and accessories. Keyboard, mouse and controller controls are supported.

Help shape the Playtest
