About This Game

KEEP TALKING.

You and up to three friends are the night crew of KHLW 104.7, a radio station deep in the Pinehollow woods. Out here, silence is what gets you killed: stay quiet too long and the Listener knows exactly where you are.

…UNTIL IT'S CLOSE.

The Listener is blind. It can't see you, smell you or hear your footsteps — it only hears voices. From far away, talking keeps you safe. Up close, your voice is the one thing it is listening for. When your own words echo back from the dark, it's near. If you see the red dot inside its horn, it's facing you.

STAY ON AIR.

Someone has to sit in the booth and read the station's ads, weather and public-service announcements — live, out loud, with a straight face. Every word you broadcast shields the crew around the station. Let the station fall silent for three seconds and the DEAD AIR alarm calls it straight to you. Tape reels buy the Operator a few minutes of freedom; the booth glass keeps your voice in, as long as the door stays shut.

KEEP THE STATION RUNNING.

Refuel the generator, replace blown fuses in the right order, climb the hill to realign the antenna, stop the leak in the transmitter room and splice the cable something chewed through. Every mistake is loud.

FAIR FEAR.

The Listener never cheats: no sight, no hidden tracking, no lucky guesses. Every attack is announced by a half-second feedback squeal — dodge, slam a door, or go down. A downed friend can be talked back up, if the rest of you are brave enough to speak next to them.
