Work the night shift at a hotel that is quietly wrong. Answer the bell, mop the corridors, hand out keys — and deal with whatever is on the fourth floor. Co-op for one to four porters, where the job is mundane, the building is not, and guess what: nobody is coming to help.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Night Audit is a complete, playable co-op horror game: full nights from 22:00 to 06:00, 26 kinds of incident, four difficulties, shift modifiers and 63 achievements. What it is missing is the thing co-op horror needs most, which is in-game voice chat. We are a small, self-funded team, and releasing in Early Access is how we fund it. It also puts the game in front of real groups of players, whose bug reports and feedback will shape what we fix and build next.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Early Access to last around three to six months, depending on how long in-game voice chat takes to build properly and on what players report once the game is in their hands.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The main addition we plan is in-game proximity voice chat, so that porters can hear each other through the hotel: close by, muffled through doors, and not at all from the fourth floor. Alongside it we plan to fix the bugs players report and to improve multiplayer stability. As time allows, we would also like to add more incidents and further polish.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The whole game is playable from start to finish, solo or online with up to four players through Steam. It includes the full hotel, the night's incidents and the rating audit at 06:00, plus achievements, character customization, sound captions and accessibility options. It is available in English, Russian, Simplified Chinese and Brazilian Portuguese.

Known limitations: there is no in-game voice chat yet, so play with a voice call running alongside. If the host leaves, the session ends. There may still be bugs and occasional crashes. The pause menu has a built-in bug reporter that sends us the details.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price modestly when the game leaves Early Access, so buying now costs the least.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The game has a bug reporter and a feedback form built in, and the feedback form appears at the end of every night. We read everything sent through them, along with the Steam discussions. Player reports will decide which fixes come first. We will also post regular updates on the Steam page describing what changed and why.”

About This Game

22:00. The day shift hands you a five-star hotel. You have until six.

Night Audit is a co-operative horror game about doing a job properly while a building refuses to co-operate. You are night porters. Guests arrive and want their keys. Somebody has been sick on the third floor. The lift is stuck, a smoke alarm is chirping somewhere you cannot place, and a man in a hallway has not moved in ten minutes.

None of it is a puzzle. All of it is work, and the hotel is fifty-four rooms across three floors with a basement that has no lights in it.

THE JOB

Answer the bell. Check guests into the right rooms — the ledger says which, and the board behind the desk only has four hooks. Mop what needs mopping and empty the bucket before it stops working. Carry the luggage up. Fix the air conditioning. Find which of fifty-four smoke alarms is going off, by standing still in a corridor and waiting for the next chirp.

THE HOTEL

Twenty-six kinds of incident, dealt into a different hand every night, so no two shifts are made of the same things. Some are a blocked toilet. Some are a radio playing a signal from an empty room, which gets louder as you carry it toward the right door. Some are a copy of one of your colleagues, standing between the stairs and the lift, that only moves while you are looking at it.

And there is a fourth floor. The lift will take you, if you have the master key and the nerve. It is not upstairs.

THE RATING

Five stars on the wall behind the desk, and they go out one at a time where everybody can see them. At six in the morning a machine prints a receipt for the night — every point you lost, what it was called, and who did what. Somebody gets an award for it. Somebody usually deserves worse.

ONE TO FOUR

Solo is a long walk and a quiet building. Four is a corridor full of people shouting about a bell. Both are the game; the night is paced for whoever turns up.

There is also an emote wheel, an axe, and two things you can do that have no effect on anything whatsoever.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Some in-game text, including the Russian, Simplified Chinese and Brazilian Portuguese translations, was drafted with AI assistance and edited by the developer. Nothing in the game is generated by AI while you play.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Night Audit is a co-op horror game set in a hotel at night. It contains jump scares: creatures appear suddenly, scream and lunge at the camera, and one encounter shows a distorted, disembodied human head. Players can swing an axe at other players and at hotel guests; this is played for slapstick, with no blood or injury shown. The hotel has a bar and a drunk guest, and some tasks involve cleaning up vomit. There is crude humour, including burp and fart emotes. There is no sexual content and no blood.
