About This Game

The Film Archive is a cozy, first-person organization game about bringing order to a movie studio’s neglected film collection. Thousands of film cans lie scattered across three floors. Somewhere in those piles are complete movies waiting to be reunited, and you’re the archivist who will put them back together.

Inspect each can, read its label, and work out where it belongs. Gather matching reels, find their section, and arrange them in numerical order. Every completed film fills another gap on the shelves. Every cleared pile reveals how far you’ve come. Gradually, an overwhelming mess becomes a collection you know by heart.

Discover 400 fictional films through their titles and illustrated labels, from earnest dramas and shadowy mysteries to wonderfully questionable science fiction. Get familiar with old favorites as you search for their missing reels, and piece together an imagined history of cinema along the way.

Complete films to earn ability points and choose upgrades that suit your approach. Carry larger stacks, improve your movement, unlock carts, and put the cargo lift to work. Abilities help you handle more of the collection, while recognizing films and deciding where to shelve them rests in your hands.

A cozy warm atmosphere and a satisfying task: finding a place for every film reel.

  • A whole archive to organize: 3,072 film cans across three floors and 32 themed sections.

  • An imagined world of cinema: 400 fictional films, each with its own title and illustrated label.

  • Hands-on sorting: Pick up, stack, carry, throw, and shelve physical film cans.

  • Progress you can see and feel: Complete film sets, earn useful upgrades, and watch scattered piles give way to orderly shelves.
