What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I Can't See You is built around one idea: a shooter you play by ear, in the dark, with the people around you hearing everything you do. That idea lives or dies on how it plays with real groups of friends, so we want players in it early. Early Access lets us see how people actually use the tape recorder, the walkie talkies and the lobby rules, find out which stages and settings make for the best matches, and shape the game around what makes groups laugh, panic and come back for another round.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect the game to be in Early Access for around 6 to 12 months. That will depend on player feedback and on how much the game grows during that time.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add more stages, more game modes beyond the current deathmatch rules, and new items that play with sound and darkness. We also want to add more ways to customise your character, more lobby options for hosts, and more sound, visual and performance polish. Controller support, more accessibility options and more languages are things we would like to add as well. Which of these come first will depend on what players ask for.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable online with 2 to 8 players through Steam lobbies. There are five stages (Office, Neighborhood, Forest, Old Town and Castle) and the full set of items: pistol, flash light, flashbangs, tape recorders and walkie talkies with 20 channels. Proximity voice chat is part of the gameplay. Hosts can set lives, rounds, teams or solo play, stage rotation, respawn rules, item counts and flash light battery. Dead players can spectate the living. Expect rough edges: some bugs, unfinished polish, and balance that will change as we learn from matches. The game currently supports keyboard and mouse, in English.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price gradually as we add new content and features, so the Early Access price is the lowest the game is expected to be.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will read and respond to the Steam discussions and reviews, and use them to decide what to fix and build next. We plan to post regular updates on the Steam page explaining what changed and why, and to ask players directly which stages, items and modes they want most. Bug reports and match stories from players will directly shape the balance of items and lobby settings.”

About This Game

I Can't See You is an online multiplayer shooter for 2 to 8 players, fought in total darkness. You can't see the others, but you can hear them, and they can hear you. Every step, every reload, every shot and every word out loud tells someone exactly where you are.

Voice chat comes out of your character, so the people near you hear you and the people far away don't. Stay quiet, listen hard, and shoot at the noise. Or make a noise on purpose and wait for someone to come looking.

• Pistol: unlimited ammo, but every reload makes a sound.

• Flash Light: see what's in front of you and show everyone where you are. The battery won't last forever.

• Flashbang: blinds anyone looking at it and lights up the whole area for a moment, including you.

• Tape Recorder: record your footsteps, gunfire and voice, then throw it. It plays the tape on a loop from wherever it lands. Set a trap, fake a fight, or just talk to yourself in the dark.

• Walkie Talkie: 20 channels. Anything said into a radio plays out of every other radio on that channel, wherever it is. Throw one at a rival and it sticks to them, and now you can hear everything they say.

• Dummy: drop a copy of your own body where you're looking. In the dark it reads as a dead player, and whoever shoots it spends a bullet, a moment, and the secret of where they're standing. One hit and it bursts into dust.

The host sets up every match:
• Lives per player and number of rounds
• Solo, or teams picked by the host or at random
• Same stage every round, or rotate through them
• Automatic respawn, or respawn when you're ready
• Magazine size, and how many flashbangs, tape recorders and walkie talkies everyone carries
• Flash light battery, from a few seconds to infinite

• Online matches for 2 to 8 players through Steam lobbies
• Five stages: Office, Neighborhood, Forest, Old Town and Castle
• Proximity voice chat as part of the gameplay
• Climb and mantle over obstacles to reach new angles
• Dead players ride along with the living and can flip between them to watch the rest of the round
