What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“As an independent team working on this fun little game, we want to give our players the best possible experience by gathering their feedback and ideas from the very start. Your input will help us polish the parkour mechanics and the level design of the maps.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Early Access to last around 6 to 12 months, depending on player feedback and the new ideas that may come up during development.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will be the result of everything we build with you during Early Access. Here is what's ahead:

• More maps: new playgrounds to run, each with its own mood, shortcuts and challenges, to keep races fresh and reward those who master their lines.
• A more solid game: we'll fix as many bugs as we can and polish every detail, so the game runs as stable and smooth as possible.
• New game modes: new ways to play and compete, to keep the experience fresh solo or with friends.
• More skins: new series to collect, and seasonal crates like the Halloween one.
• A bigger map editor: more themes and pieces to build with, and your maps shared through the Steam Workshop.

Above all, the full version will bear the mark of our community: your feedback and ideas will guide every one of these steps.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Skyts is already fully playable, and the core of the game is in place. Here is what the Early Access version includes:

• 6 tracks, each with its own level design, traps and shortcuts:
– Skyline Run, a corridor suspended in the sky;
– Crosstown Rush, an avenue in the middle of the city;
– Rampart Run, the ramparts of a besieged fortress;
– Dockside Dash, a busy container port;
– Neon Drop, the rooftops of Hong Kong, at night in the rain;
– Graveyard Shift, the Halloween track, along a crypt rampart.
• 3 game modes:
– Time trial: you against the clock, facing your own ghost or the world record's, with bronze, silver and gold medals to earn;
– Race: up to 6 players on the same track, one clock for everyone, with a track drawn at random every round;
– Parcel: one parcel, one lit fuse. Deliver it before it explodes — but carrying it slows you down, and anyone who touches you steals it!
• Custom mode, the map editor: build your own track in the game from 181 pieces across three worlds (the graveyard, the neon city, the port), with every trap in the game, your own lights, sky and time of day. Change the rules too: run speed, gravity, jump height, extra jumps in the air, grapple range, dash, wall run and slide on or off. Test it with one key, finish it to set the author time, then publish it: other players race it from the Online tab, with its leaderboard, the record's ghost and medals measured against your time.
• The daily challenge: every day, one track drawn at random, the same for every player, with its own leaderboard. Finish it to earn a crate.
• Crates and skins: open your crates in the game to dress your ghost (hat, eyewear, top, bottoms, shoes, color), from common to mythic. The odds are shown, the studio sells no crates and no keys, and skins can be traded between players and sold on the Steam Community Market. For Halloween, from October 26 to November 1, a limited-edition crate replaces the daily one.
• Online leaderboards: compare your best times on every track with other players'.
• Full parkour: sprint, slide, wall run, dash and grapple, chained together to find the fastest lines.
• 15 Steam achievements.
• Your music mid-race: the song playing in Spotify, YouTube Music or YouTube shows up during the race, and you can control it without leaving the track.

The game will keep growing throughout Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, Skyts will cost the same during and after Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Listening to you is the whole point of this Early Access! We will actively gather your feedback, bug reports and suggestions on our Discord server to shape the game with you.”

About This Game

DON'T SLOW DOWN

You're already going too fast to think. Good: thinking is slower than you.

The wall on your left is a floor if you commit. The gap ahead is a shortcut if you fire now. The corner is free if you dive into it and let it spit you out the other side.

And when you've already jumped, when you already know it's too short and there's nothing left under you — burn the rush. Thirteen metres, swallowed in a fifth of a second, at three times your cruising pace.

It doesn't leave you fast. It leaves you on the other side. After that, you have to earn it again.

TIME TRIAL — YOU AND THE NUMBER

The track is yours. No one to race, no one to blame.

Your best time stays behind as a ghost, and it sets off when you do: half a second ahead, only better, never hesitating once. Catch it. Then go make it faster, and start losing to yourself all over again.

Or send out the world record's ghost, and watch exactly which metre it takes your time. Bronze, silver, gold: the medals wait for whoever gets under the right times, and gold isn't given away.

RACE — FIVE OTHERS, ONE CLOCK

Six on the same line, and the clock belongs to the server, not to you.

Nothing restarts. You fall, you get back up, and it keeps ticking — so a race isn't won by never falling. It's won by losing the least time getting back up.

The others are beside you the whole way, as ghosts. You don't find out afterwards at which metre it got away from you. You watch it happen while it happens.

PARCEL — FORTY-FIVE SECONDS, THEN IT BLOWS

A bomb on the track. Whoever carries it is the slowest thing in the corridor, and everyone behind them knows exactly where they are.

One touch and it changes hands. Hold it too long and it was yours.

Pass it on. Take it back at the worst possible moment. Cross the gate with nothing left on the fuse and listen to it stop. Five parcels a round — most deliveries wins.

Here, the fastest doesn't win.

SIX TRACKS

  • Skyline Run — a corridor suspended at cruising altitude, stepping down between the lasers.
  • Crosstown Rush — an avenue between the facades, walls to run and boosters above a real street.
  • Rampart Run — the walkway of a besieged rampart: blades, axes, rolling logs and volleys of arrows.
  • Dockside Dash — a port that keeps working while you run: cranes, barrels, trucks, and three basins to clear.
  • Neon Drop — at night, in the rain, rooftop to rooftop across Hong Kong, always downhill, all the way to the elevated metro.
  • Graveyard Shift — the Halloween track: a crypt rampart above a sea of fog, and everything that guards the dead.

CUSTOM — BUILD THE TRACK YOU WANT TO LOSE ON

181 pieces from three worlds — the graveyard, the neon city, the port. Every trap in the game. Your own lights, your own sky, your own hour of the night.

Then bend the rules: faster runs, lighter gravity, higher jumps, extra jumps in mid-air, a grapple that reaches across the map — or no dash at all.

One key and you're running it. Finish it and your time becomes the author time. Publish it, and watch everyone else try to take it from you on your own track: a leaderboard, the record's ghost, and medals measured against you.

DAILY CHALLENGE — ONE TRACK, EVERYONE, TWENTY-FOUR HOURS

Every day, one track is drawn at random. The same for everyone, and a leaderboard that starts from zero.

Finish it and you leave with a crate. You don't have to win: you just have to make it.

DRESS YOUR GHOST

Crates open in the game, no key needed. Inside: hats, eyewear, tops, bottoms, shoes and hologram colors, from common to mythic — and the other runners see you wearing them.

The odds are shown in the game, crate by crate. The studio sells no crates and no keys: everything is earned by running. Skins, on the other hand, can be traded between players and sold on the Steam Community Market.

For Halloween, from October 26 to November 1, the daily crate becomes the Halloween Crate: twelve limited-edition skins, from the Pumpkin Head to The Grin.

YOUR MUSIC

Skyts is meant to be run to your own music. Start Spotify, YouTube Music or YouTube: the song shows up mid-race, and you can change it without taking your eyes off the track.

THE ONLY FAIR THING IS THE TRACK

It does exactly the same thing on every attempt. Every laser, every drop, every second.

So when it goes wrong, there's no one to blame, and you already know it. You just want to go back.
