What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Merchant Miles is built around reading markets, planning routes, and growing from a small-time trader into a respected merchant. Early Access lets me develop that journey alongside players: refining the economy, improving clarity, expanding towns and trade opportunities, and learning which decisions make each market day genuinely compelling. ”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Merchant Miles to remain in Early Access for less than a year, though this may change depending on development progress and player feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to expand the world with more towns, goods, routes, market events, rivals, staff, upgrades, contracts, and trading opportunities. We also plan to deepen the economy, progression systems, merchant skill tree, customer relationships, and long-term campaign structure.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version includes the core Merchant Miles gameplay loop: buying goods, planning routes, travelling between distinct towns, managing permits and expenses, and running a physical market stall for customers.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to offer the game at a lower price during Early Access. The price may increase as more content and features are added and the game approaches its full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to involve the community through Steam discussions, player feedback, surveys, and bug reports. Feedback will help us identify balance problems, improve usability, refine existing systems, and decide which areas of the trading experience need the most attention.”

About This Game

Merchant Miles is a travelling merchant game about buying and selling goods, keeping an eye on the market, and figuring out where your next opportunity might be.

Read the Market

Each morning, you can check prices, read the latest news, look through new contracts and see what laws or decrees are affecting the economy. From there, it’s up to you to decide what to buy and where to take it.

Prices are different in every town and can change as the market develops. A surplus might make apples cheap in one place, while a shortage makes them much more valuable somewhere else. New laws can affect demand, and rumours can give you an idea of where prices might be heading — although they won’t always lead you in the right direction.

Pack Your Cart

You only have so many coins to spend and so much room in your cart, so you can’t take everything with you.

You might fill your cart with cheap, reliable goods and make a steady profit, or spend more on something you think will be worth a lot more in another town. Just keep in mind that goods can lose freshness while you travel, and unsold stock still takes up space.

Run Your Stall

When you arrive in town, open your stall and start selling.

Customers will make offers based on what you’re selling and how you’ve priced it. You can accept a decent profit, try to negotiate for more, or hold out and risk losing the sale altogether.

Plan Your Next Move

At the end of each market day, you’ll get a report showing what you sold and how you did. You can use that information, along with everything you’ve learned about the market, to decide where to travel next.

Maybe there’s a shortage worth chasing, a contract you want to finish, or a rumour that sounds promising. You can return to a route that has worked well before, or simply take a chance on somewhere new.

As your reputation grows, more opportunities become available. There isn’t one route you’re expected to follow or one strategy that always works. You can build your business through smaller, reliable trades or take bigger risks when you think you’ve spotted something the rest of the market hasn’t.
