About This Game

Hack the system. Own the network.

DarkLooter is a hacking simulation played through a retro desktop operating system. Attack virtual institutions, steal their files, sell them on the black market, and turn the profits into better hardware — all in a persistent online world shared with other players.

Hack institutions

• Attack six institutions of increasing difficulty: System, App, Social, Corporation, Bank and Government.
  
• Each target holds a different file type (.log, .cfg, .data, .corp, .bank, .gov) with its own value and attack time.
  
• Attacks run in real time — your hardware decides how fast you finish and how many files you take.

Hack other players

• From the Cracker rank up, attack other players by IP address and steal their files.
  
• Get caught and your IP is exposed on the public Blacklist. Change your IP to disappear.
  
• Protect yourself with a Firewall and an Antivirus that detects attackers.

Build your rig

• Upgrade CPU, RAM, Disk, Internet, Firewall and Antivirus. Each upgrade takes real time to install and changes how you play.
  
• Manage your disk space and the hardware your attacks, mining and uploads all compete for.

Sell, mine and trade

• Sell stolen files on the Black Market for cash.
  
• Mine DLC (DarkLooter Coin) and trade it on a live market with a moving price chart.
  
• Spend DLC or Tokens on Premium, new IP addresses and more.

Climb the ranks

• Progress through five ranks — Lammer, Cracker, Black Hat, White Hat and Hacker — and unlock new targets and abilities along the way.
  
• Compete on the global player and society rankings.
  
• Unlock Steam achievements as you grow.

Join a society

• Create or join a society, define custom roles, chat with your members and earn points together.
  
• Challenge other societies for the top of the ranking.

A desktop for a hacker

Everything happens inside a full desktop environment: My Computer, a command-line Terminal, Logs, Blacklist, Ranking and more. Even game updates arrive as "system updates" you install yourself.
