About This Game

1- The card game where cards earn their rank.

In Tughra you don't just play your cards — you promote them. Two recruits on the board merge into a captain for a single Treasure; two captains become a governor. Every deck is a promotion tree with the empire's strongest card at its top — and your opponent will try to cut that tree at the root before you climb it.

2- The ruler's seal is in your hand.

Every empire has five seals; you choose one before the match. A seal is the ruler's power you can use every turn: the Ottoman Tughra, the Byzantine Eagle, the Jade Seal of China, the Signet of the Shah, the Double Seal of Austria. The same deck plays completely differently under a different seal.

3- Five empires, five ways to play.

Not the empires of real history, but of its fantasy echo:

  • Ottoman — promotion, conscription and siege: turn the enemy's men to your side and bring down their walls with cannon.

  • Byzantium — raise walls, burn with Greek Fire, silence your enemy with diplomacy.

  • China — gunpowder and numbers: Powder Soldiers that explode on death, and a Dragon Assault that floods the board in a single turn.

  • Persia — Immortals who are always replaced, war elephants, and a treasury fed by satrapies.

  • Austria — a realm with two heads: it opens slowly, then presses from both wings at once. Coalition binds your army into one body, and the guns speak every turn.

4- Every match is a single match.

In the tournament you fight each rival exactly once; the winner moves on to the next empire. Defeat doesn't end your campaign — the same rival returns, and the number of attempts it took is recorded in your Book of Conquest. Victory is not cheap; it is written down.

5- And at the end of the road: a question mark.

When five empires have fallen, a sixth challenger appears. Its identity stays hidden for the whole tournament — an empire with its own cards, its own seals and its own rules, nothing but a question mark until you reach it. And there is no guarantee it will be the same one next time.
