Katanakaji is an approachable first-person crafting game about the journey from an unknown artisan to a renowned Japanese swordsmith.

Within the warmth of your forge, every new piece of tamahagane is an opportunity to prove your skill. Accept commissions, create blades that meet the needs of your clients, and build a reputation through the quality of your work. As your name becomes known, more prestigious contracts and greater challenges await.

Guide each katana through a hands-on sequence inspired by traditional Japanese swordsmithing. Manage the forge, hammer heated steel into shape, select a hamon style, apply clay, quench the blade, polish its surface, and complete it with your choice of decorative fittings.

The experience captures the atmosphere and satisfaction of the craft through accessible timing, movement, and decision-based minigames. Katanakaji is not intended to be a hardcore metallurgical simulation. Your performance still matters: every stage contributes to the finished sword’s quality, appearance, identity, and value, while serious mistakes can damage or even destroy a blade.
